although the Ferraris did not win by as big a margin as we normally see from the Red Bulls.
Perhaps me a bit hopeful but I don't think the Ferrari's went full send. Carlos managed his tyres throughout and pitted when he needed & Clucky easily dealt with the Mclarens and posted fastest lap on 22 lap old hards by some margin.

Do we have any SA prospects that we might see in F1 in the future?
nah Sim racing needs power and load shedding kills the hopefuls.

but in seriousness the real problem is our karting scene is not really up to scratch so a young talent gets started too late nd ends up going into different racing series rather than Karting -> Open wheel -> "F4" -> F3 ->F2 ->F1

I say "F4" because there is not one single series it is a few different ones.

The cost involved is just too big.
if we see anyone race in a series like that with our flag it would be a person born here, moved to Europe young and started Karting there with a very rich family.

This is inevitable. I don't think Danny will pick himself up in two races if this is true. Pressure does not suit him it seems. I still think he should be a on track commentator. The banter between himself and the racers will be funny.
I think he should get involved in another motorsport class even Nascar/Indy etc. He's had a good run in F1 and still has alot of potential.

There are a ton of views on this Alonso matter. It seems the majority thinks the penalty is harsh and a bunch think that lifting off and downshifting in the corner is part of defending. I'm mixed on it even after rewatching Russell's onboard. On the FIA at the time, most think a red flag was necessary.
Alonso basically brake checked Russel, however you want to spin it.

I also think a red flag was required, not because cry baby asked for it, but because it was needed. It could have ended way worse. But the vsc was quickly deployed so all good

Yeah I didn't see a break check. Plenty have cited the similarities with Hauger's crash:

opinion on if its a break check or not is irriivant.
the ruling is it was dangerous driving NOT a break check.
the rulling is clear shows the data to support the argument and more importantly shows there was no Malicious intent by Alonso.
those are facts and that settles the case. a break check implies malicious intent. this was not a break check.

the penalty is harsh, but it is fair.

I want to see red flags out sooner. and I believe if there were more than 1 lap to go it would have been a red flag no question. but for the last lap the VSC was deployed fast enough and GR could get out safely. so when the number of laps left is taken into account along with the location of the incident and the number of cars that still had to pass them in racing conditions, I believe there was no need for a red flag.

What's the consensus regarding Russell's radio pleas for a red flag?

Scared for his safety (completely justified) or hoping the red flag would've still given him points?
I can’t see him getting points off a red flag?

Apparently if a red flag was given, he would have kept his position as it was the last lap (some rule I never knew about). Instead he dropped to dead last as everyone passed him under the VS

That was a really beautiful Ferrari, back when Ferrari was still Ferrari. Lets hope they can somehow get back to those days again when LH joins them.
I really think some people underestimate Sainz at Ferrari. He was better than Leclerc last season and has put in good performances. I dont think Lewis Hamilton will be that much better bar the experience.

I would have been fine with that TBH. It was the last lap and he earned that position throughout the race. It needed to be stopped immediately for everyone's safety...
