F1 2024

Amazing how fans seem to know more about F1 than the people running it.
There is maybe a reason that a 17 year old got an F1 seat and became the youngest driver ever.

He does have talent yes, but all the men on that grid are excellent drivers. The gap would not be as big if they were in equal machinery. Pretty sure even the people running it will tell you that. Horner decided to give Ric the seat with the other Red Bull team because the time he did during his trial would have put him close to Max.

The same argument was made when Hamilton was winning non stop. Nobody will ever know unless F1 turns into Indy Car, which is worse than caring about who the best driver is.

F1 is a team sport after all. All we care about is that the teams are more closely matched, except if you're that chop who has everyone on ignore and supports whichever team Hamilton is driving for, yet claims to still support his past teams...

Yes, they have drastically cut back on parties and promotions as the catering budget is now needed for development ;)
lol but on a serious note…

If anything F1 needs a cost minimum to avoid a haas situation on development. There shouldn’t be a maximum as time and time again as soon as a team realizes they can’t catch up then development for the current year stops and is deferred in favour of the following years car.

Essentially a car is then a gamble over an 18-24 month window and requires a breakthrough to provide a real performance gain and doesn’t promote progressive improvements over time. At minimum it severely limits options for exploration due to cost considerations.

Edit: And just to add to ensure a somewhat level eventuality for all teams they could ensure all designs are shared with all teams after an advantage period
of let’s say 6-12 months whereafter all designs used are public domain.

Plenty of drivers out there looking for a seat. Who gets this upset about a no points position?

Give Lawson his seat.

Drivers upset about giving up any position is frankly what we need more of.

Lawson is deserved. Not so sure that the same can be said for Ric. If Checo’s seat materializes that should be Lawsons imho. Give him a season and if he doesn’t deliver do a swap then and Yuki still would be my next in line pick from within.

Yuki would feel he's done his time and deserves the Checo seat more. I like Lawson, and not Yuki's biggest fan, but it's a valid argument. He's outdriven everyone at AT. As to whether he's better than Checo, I have my doubts.

Also sending Lawson straight into the main team is setting the lighty up for failure. The nazi will measure him purely against Max, and he'll end up being another Albon...

Either way still a win for Lawson. Albon has proved life after RB despite Williams still building.

Albon deserves a better seat than Williams, he's proven that over and over.

When Marko is done tossing Lawson aside, he may not be so lucky to even drive for Williams.

Just get rid of the has-been Ricciardo to make way for Lawson. He got some wins and made his money. Can't he just do the right thing and sod off already instead of holding the youngsters back...

The other consideration about 2026 is that Red Bull is switching to Ford as an engine supplier. While Honda is moving to power the Aston Martin.

Now the question becomes would Honda want Yuki at Aston?

If Yuki has bigger ties with Honda than with Red Bull then they (RB) know there's a high chance he leaves and therefore will not need to risk having him in the main team for a year only to have to replace him after that year.

I guess they can have Danny and Max in 2025 while Liam joins Yuki.
Come 2026 they can assess if Liam deserves a shot to replace Danny or keep him for another year or 2 there while they get someone else to partner him. Maybe an American if Ford wants that.

I’d love to see Albon get a better seat - I just hope it’s not a return to RB. A seat at Merc alongside Russell would be interesting but Antonelli is a consideration too especially if he performs in F2z Lawson I think will land somewhere else if he gets dumped - he’d be very good value for any team. But agree, Ricciardo must go - he hasn’t brought much other than personality.

You genuinely think people only want to watch when Lewis wins?

The problem is how dominant Red Bull and Verstappen is. Hamilton's dominance wasn't this extreme. In 2017 he only led the championship from Singapore onwards. And 2018 saw a close battle between Hamilton and Vettel up until Italy.

I also wonder how much the engine freeze is helping Red Bull. They managed to get a Honda engine that was great and then threatened to leave F1 if the engine freeze doesn't happen. And then they dominated year on year.

Jos Verstappen claims Red Bull will 'EXPLODE' if Horner stays

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/formulaone/article-13149753/Jos-Verstappen-Christian-Horner-Red-Bull-Geri-Halliwell.html

According to his affiliates, Horner believes Verstappen Snr has orchestrated a campaign to unseat him for the past few weeks, the implication being that the Dutchman even had a hand in the email leak.

I don't understand why this wife beating loser has so much say anyway.
Yuki brake tested DR, went off track, then came back on aggressively and almost side swiped DR.

Cut that half pint loose and put Lawson in the car. But of course, Honda will not like that.

Yuki is really immature. Not sure he should even be in F1...

I’d just add that having Checo in 2 is fine if you just want to barely get 2nd but he brings no real competition to Max - he’s just not as good of a driver. Lewis always had someone fighting for a win despite a team order from time to time.
