It is just weird that there is not at least one race on the African continent. You are pretty much spread out across the globe except Africa.

Rumours swirling that Sainz has signed for Merc already, on a 1+1 contract.

Sainz (for me at least) aren't nearly as good as Clucky or Sir Ham but he is very good, and I can see myself supporting him at Mercedes.

I don't know hey. Been thinking about it recently. I would always have put Charles first and I think on just pure, raw talent, he probably takes it. But Sainz is spanking him all over the place this season.

"In the last 12 months the like of Leclerc, Norris, Hamilton and Alonso all refused a seat to Red Bull in the best car because they were all scared of Max Verstappen. Nobody wants the smoke and this is why he is the GOAT"

Mark Hughes @SportmphMark
"That’s just plain untrue. Neither Leclerc, Hamilton nor Alonso were offered a place. Hamilton and Alonso both tried and were told no."

Yep, that would totally break the Max factor.

Yeah, I rate Clucky way above Sainz still, sainz is on an epic roll, but overall Clucky is still better. But rather him than that Dutch person at Mercedes.

Can't fathom why people are thinking that. 2026 regs promise big changes and Merc apparently have a head start on the competition with engines, but I can't see any driver willingly leaving a Newey-based team right now.

Money talks.
Africa has none and would have to rely on charity to get an F1 race.

No I agree, but I still think it is something that they want to do at some point. A few drivers have been quoted as saying they want to race in SA (Hamilton, Max etc). From an infrastructure and money point of view, sure we probably cant match the other countries but I think it is more about what a "World Championship" means to them if there is no Africa continent race?

There’s nothing wrong with Kayalami. We nearly had the deal signed until a few million got in the way.

Kyalami doesn't have F1 grading. Safety and media/VIP facilities are not F1 standard, so before a deal is signed, you'd have to pump millions into upgrading then more millions to actually host the race.
