Interesting that he got the 2 years after he was offered one 1 year.

I don't think Max wil stay with RB for longer than 1 or 2 years.

I might be wrong

Bit of a joke imho. He is so not worthy of that seat given his performances. Anyway. Max is probably fapping at the thought of having a rear gunner with no chance of competing with him

Here's a thought. The people actually working at RB and F1 know more than us. Maybe Perez is not that slow and the RB is not that fast.
Maybe, just maybe Max is in a league of his own and he is just faster than anybody else, not the car.

Maybe auntie Margaret has balls and is actually uncle Bob?

I like the lie from RB about him helping secure the constructor's last year. Max secured the title by himself, Checo could have stayed home all year.

Or maybe he's not good, as reflected by his results.

I am very happy that Perez has got a contract extension. But I can see absolutely no strategic advantage to Red Bull.

Money? Perez has always been a guy who brings a lot of money/sponsors with him and that helps pay top tier salaries for top tier drivers.

When in doubt it always boils down to money.

You should not ignore any influence Max had in this decision - it is his team BTW.

Yeah I think this was a major pull on his side. I can't see them doing this purely on "performance".

Terrible mistake from RB's side imo. He could literally cost them the Constructors this year if he does not perform consistently. The Mclaren and Ferrari boys are always in the top 6 scoring consistent points and getting podiums.

I wonder if there is not a performance clause in that 2 year deal. RB wanted to give 1 year and Checo wanted 2. RB probably went "Ok, we'll give you 2 but if you don't perform at a certain leve, we can drop you"

As much as I like Perez, I think its a bad move by RB. This year is going to be a tight constructors title.
Perez is just not consistent enough to be in a top team IMHO.

This makes a lot of sense.

If Checo can quickly get back to finishing P2-P4, then all good. But if not, they're definitely lose the constructors to Ferrari or McLaren.

Qualifying has always been Perez's Achilles heel it seems. No different this year. The big difference this year is that the RB can't race past 10 other cars within 15 laps to get to a podium any more. If he qualifies 10th in races, he will be lucky to end up 7th now.

Lewis Hamilton entered F1 at the top, so he never had to build his career by scrapping it out in a Minardi or Caterham
