F1 2024

To add, I think McLaren needs to favour Lando for the rest of the season, obviously to not impede Oscar, but Lando, realistically, has the best chance of beating Max in the Driver's Champ.

McLaren have a track record of mishandling their drivers in a championship fight.

They allowed Coulthard to race Hakkinen in 1999 to nearly their detriment (Coulthard punted him in Austria and then took the win off of Hakkinen at Spa when he was nowhere near the title fight while Hakkinen and Irvine were neck-and-neck) and then we all know about 2007.

Granted Norris has a huge deficit to make up, but it is very clear that they are fast, and Norris can continue to eat into Max's lead.

I think Max walks away from the sport if RB can't produce a winning car in 2026. He does not seem, based on his numerous interviews, that he intends staying too long in any case.

There is already nowhere to go in 2025, so if RB does not get the car in a good space next year, that would be a very long year for the man.

There is the possibility for him to replace Lewis at Ferrari in a few years, if he wishes, to don the Red overalls for a season or two.

I don't get the feeling he wants to break the WDC record, like Lewis is clinging onto.

I don't think Antonelli will challenge for a top finish next year. There is a lot of hype around him but I don't really rate him as a F1 driver.

So there is now a Rumor of a confirmation of a Rumor ................
That is definitely F1 Journalism at its best  ;)

All good and well they might be getting Newey but I just don't know what top driver will want to realistically partner with Stroll.

Why not? It's not like he's going to be a big threat and so far I've not seen any evidence of favouritism.

When they have a championship winning car, I bet all of them.
But who will win a championship in it to make it a championship winning car?
I will bet it won't be Stroll but if it is then Newie certainly is the great wizard that everyone makes him out to be .
Strange timing though seeing as the new yacht that he is meant to be retiring too has just arrived in Cape Town for the summer season.

on the Grid walk for F1TV at silverstone, Jeremy Clarkson said to Will Buxton (I think) that Newey was looking to buy a place close to him and not a place in Marenello.

Newey and Clarkson are school friends that is why he was asked about it.

that was after the Silverstone factory had to be cleared out of staff of a super secret visitor to prevent media leaks.
and about 2 weeks before Newey was having coffee at a place in Marenello and he was spotted by some journalists.

i wont be surprised if he ends up going to AM. but i really want him to go to Ferrari because if ticks two of the boxes he himself has said are the only things he wishes he did in his career, working with LH and working at Ferrari

I am having to brace myself for becoming a Ferrari fan after all these decades of being a dedicated McLaren fan.
But if McLaren throw away this championship and Newie joins ferrari with Hamilton, then I will happily switch teams until Lewis takes his 8th championship.

Newey off to Aston.

TBH that's going to be interesting. I'm not convinced we'll see anything exciting from them just yet.

They won't be.

If he does go there, he will have had no influence on the design of their 2025 car. His influence will only start to be seen later in the season, but that will also depend on what AM want to do. They may opt to stick a fork in the 2025 car early (no emphasis on Newey updating it) and instead allow Newey to focus on the 2026 car and the regulation changes that will entail. Which is what I would do. With drastic changes on the horizon, why get caught up making next year's car better when you can potentially blast out of the gates in 2026?

Alonso might tolerate a poor 2025 if 2026 will be a banger Newey beast

I rewatched Sunday's GP from Charles's perspective and I realised that he didn't make a single mistake. Not one wheel wrong the entire GP. He really deserved that win.

aparently he will be using the same tyres in the next race cos they havent degraded as yet :D

Alonso will be 45 come 2026. I just can't see him keeping up. He might prove me wrong though
