I don't see how they would have done anything differently.

For the first half of the season RB was still dominant. In the next half, Norris had to contend with retarded team orders and pit strategies (which they also would have), and a kamikaze maniac trying to drive them off to maintain the lead he built up in the first half (Max wouldn't have had to deal with this given that he's the maniac in question).

If there's one criticism on Norris it's that he's a bad starter and a bit of a whiner. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with his pace...

We're to having to agree to disagree on that. Neither Max or Lewis would've been that far behind with a car that dominant. His bad starts are one of the big reason why he is so far behind.

He hasn’t had a dominant car. Did you miss the season start? You must really not rate Piastri then.

The Ferrari fan troll will ignore this

Norris’ penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage in Austin was only punished with five seconds whereas Verstappen was given 10 seconds in Mexico which courted controversy and accusations of British bias.

In their rulings though, the stewards explained that Norris’ penalty was only five seconds as Verstappen had played a big role in him leaving the track having pushed them both wide. However, last Sunday it was all Verstappen.

The Red Bull driver was first penalised at Turn 4 for forcing Norris off the track given the McLaren driver had the right to the corner as he had the apex and was then hit with a second penalty for leaving the track after diving up the inside of Norris at Turn 7 and forcing them both off the track.

Verstappen’s father Jos claimed bias was involved, telling De Telegraaf: “The FIA should take a good look at the staffing of the stewards, who they put there and whether there is no appearance of a conflict of interest. From former drivers, for example, who have more sympathy for certain drivers or [teams].”

Herbert, who was on the stewards’ panel in Mexico, has scoffed at the notion of British bias. After all, the other three stewards involved in deciding Verstappen’s penalty were not British.

“There always seems to be an issue about us British stewards being ‘biased’, but when we’re in that room, we abide by the rules and guidelines from the FIA. That is how we have to judge the racing on the track,” he told Action Network.

“To say it’s ‘biased’ is absolutely ridiculous and not the case. We try as hard as possible to be fair in our judgement.

“The issue we have is the tactics we see on the track, there are driving styles that are not deemed correct according to the guidelines, and the situation we had in Mexico showed that we made the right decision.

“In Mexico, the stewards other than me were American, Belgian and Brazilian, all who have the same powers as each other. To say there’s bias is ridiculous.”

“The track has been completely resurfaced. It's only been 2 months. No races have been held. There is no rubber. It has been washed but not at very high pressure. Less macro and micro roughness than 2023. In dry conditions it should have a good level of grip due to bitumen. We'll see what happens if it rains.#F1

In terms of potential I rate Piastri higher. But you have to admit he's been pissing away a lot of potential points.
Which begs the question why you rate him higher than the guy who’s clearly leading.

It is clear that Lando is the better racer over the season of the Mclaren boys. But then again, he should be. He has been in F1 for 6 years, Oscar is only in his 2nd and he has outscored everyone on the grid for something like 10 races before Austin/Mexico.

You can see that he is still uncomfortable at certain tracks and will only get better over the next year or two. If Mclaren gives them a good car again next year, I have a feeling the championship will be fought between these two and perhaps Charles, but in the next 2 years or so, Oscar will overtake Lando imo.

He is cooler and more in control of his feelings, he also comes across as more decisive and in control of his racing. He is still new but he has the potential of a great driver already. For me at least.

Lando is more of a whiny little shithead.

Potential. The excitement is based on people's observations in terms of his racecraft and his composure throughout.
What does his racecraft and composure count if they result in mediocre performance?

Oscar is in his 2nd year and has outscored all the other drivers for the last 10 odd races.

What exactly don't you understand?
First you said he outscored all the other drivers for 10 races before Austin, now it's the last 10 races.... Whichever way you spin it, he has certainly not outscored all the other drivers LOL.

Would you prefer we start at the end or the beginning?
You realise to outscore anyone you have to beat them at the chequered flag?

This constant comparison of Max to Senna and Schumacher as if its a good thing, that defends him is hilarious. That's some crazy rosetinted glasses nonsense.

Senna only did what he did because FIA did nothing to respond to his protestations of Prost's racing to point where Prost even took him out to win a championship. Senna then duly responded in kind as a result FIA not stepping up and then FIA took notice and rules changed.

Schumacher, again, FIA turned a blind eye when he first won, taking Hill out. Despite protestations by drivers and teams about it, FIA did nothing. Schumacher got even worse thanks to FIA doing nothing and FIA were later forced to acknowledge they were wrong to do nothing, as Schumacher tried his stunt again, and this time was met with a full season DQ and going forward got regular sanctions for his driving since.

A comparison to Senna and Schumacher ISN'T the defence of Max people think it is, it is in fact quite the opposite, and points at FIA's lack of backbone to the detriment of the sport for DECADES!
