Danny Ric belongs nowhere near an F1 seat again.

Herta is guaranteed to drive for them if he gets his Super License.
I fully agree with you.
but from a team joining the grid, lets evaluate the options.
you want to have a driver with experience. so lets break it down.
when we only consider Drivers that do not have a contract yet for 2026.
Alonso, Kmag, Schumacher, Zhou, Seargant, Giovenazzi , Ricchardo, Grojan, De Vries, Latifi

and lets be honest here. Alonso will stay with AM or he will retire. he wont take on a new entry at this stage of his career.
Ricchardo, Kmag, Grojan and Giovenazzi are the only ones wiht experience.
and Ricchardo has appeal in the US and even though he is a terrible option, he is the best of the bunch. other than taking on a pay driver that is no longer in the sport, or an over the hill ex Driver. or a never has been.

double rookie is too risky.

the only other option is to try and get Perez....

the Drive in Brazil was something Button never did, setting max apart from the rest and even for me who thinks he is an entitled prat who has had everything given to him on a platter his entire life has to admit it was one of the best drives I have seen. its up there with Brazil 2021, Monza 2008, China 2011, Brazil 2012, and lets not forget Canada 2011
Again, double edged for me. That was a somewhat crazy race. That the Alpines finished 2nd and 3rd, Ocon, and Gasly, no slouches, sure, but definitely not the 2nd and 3rd best drivers on the grid by any stretch of the imagination and only 19seconds behind Max, who's drive is being hailed, as one of the greatest... Yet only 19sec's ahead of a 2nd placed Alpine... Um... ok....

How do we call the drive by Max one of the greatest, with somebody in an Alpine only 19sec's behind him, an Alpine....

pit strategy and luck put the alpines where they were, and it was well deserved, the conditions means that the car made less difference, and it was more on driver skill.
with the conditions as they were, and the fact Max passed them on track, and then created that gap makes it a great drive.
take nothing away from the Alpine boys, but what Max did was special. very few drivers would have been able to take that win from them on that day in those conditions. maybe 2020 Merc with Lewis and Bottas, 2013 seb, 2006 Alonso, 2003 Schumacher. and those are maybe for me, as its not about the car and the driver, its about the confidence the driver has to have in the car to create that gap. that is why I said the 2020 Merc, not the 2019 one that was technically more dominant, but the 2020 one left the drivers with more confidence. same with the 2013 Red bull over the 2011 one, or the 2003 Ferrari rather than the 2002 one.

I want to be clear I hate Blowing Max's horn here, but it was a fantastic drive, and making it seem less impressive because it was alpine in second shows you did not watch the race.

Because he came from 17th to overtake the entire field and still put a further 19 seconds in front of an Alpine. If he had started on the front row he would most likely have lapped the entire grid.

In the wet, Max is currently unmatched. He'd better enjoy it while he can, next year there will be two of them.

Pitstops and strategy blunders etc played quite the role in that though.

So you have the fastest car. You win races by 20-40s. While winning with that margins you still manage your tires and machinery so you do not have any reliability issues the whole year. You score more than double the points than your teammate in 2nd place in the same car.
Yet it does not show your talent, you only won because you had fastest car?

Correct.

True, if Lando had stayed out there would have been some sort of battle.

But that wasn't how it shook out. Still a good drive though. As a Max non-fan, I have to respect it.

Yuki will follow the Honda partnerships I reckon. I can see him being part of Aston from 2026 onwards, even if in a reserve role.
Assuming Stroll slinks off to WEC after 2026, I could see a Yuki / Alonso partnership in Adrian Newey's Aston Martin working out pretty well.

I still rate him higher than Lando and he'd have pushed Max harder this season if he was in that McLaren. I think he is a lot more combative and would have held up better in the wheel-to-wheel stuff. His drive in LV also shows that he may have been better at converting his opportunities where Lando blew so many of his poles.

iirc lando only converted 1 out of 10 or something poles
