F1 2025

Can agree with this. Formula E has come a long way and if you look at the Jeddah races a week or two ago it was a very entertaining watch. Edge of seat last laps.

I've never been able to get into Formula E, but from a tech perspective they have the electric stuff covered and WEC has pretty open rules regarding the engines, so manufacturers have some free reign there to test ideas and concepts.

so F2 feeds F1.
F2 is a mess and what should have been a fantastic season in 2024 was just terrible because of the Teach spec changes in F2. yet there are 4 Rookies from F2 that moved up to F1. Lawson is a Rookie that was not in F2 last year. Doohan was not in F2 last year (but might be replaced by Colepinto)

so F2 is a disaster, and that tech is going to end up moving into F1 that is going to make it worse.

if the FIA want F1 to be the pinacle of motorsport the changes should start at F2 and then to F1.

for F1 to be the best it needs to be a fact that F2 is the second best, where the thing that makes the difference is the drivers. as long as there is debate on WEC vs F1 then F2 will suffer and by knock on effect F1 will suffer.

and the Whining and screeching noises from the tiers as they run otherwise silently round the circuit just annoys me rather than entertain me. There is some good driving but unless I watch with the sound off I never get to see it.
I actually avoid Cape Town when the race is on rather than watching.

The 2024 F2 chassis was developed to bring it closer to F1, right down to its appearance, so the tech/concepts are going from F1 ->F2.

F2 is also a spec series, so far more limited that what happens in F1.

I almost feel like there should be a rotating Formula 1 juniors team (run by Prema perhaps?) that takes at the very least the champion of the F2 season and plonks them into F1, just so the Champ at least gets a guaranteed seat in F1. But they would be rotating seats that rookies can only race there for one year and then they have to move on for the next season of winners. But hey, at least its a year in F1!

Formula E’s problem is street circuits and fake “boosts”

I like that idea.

but what is the point in F1 teams having a Junior program then?

and who builds the Engine and the car for the Prema team in F1?

Preama team racing 1 rookie and one "mentor" driver in the championship winning car from the year before maybe?

or maybe a Rookie is allowed 2 years in Prema F1, to help the next rookie in their second season?

FIa will never go for it because it dilutes the prize pool, and it will be an F1 team wiht no value of its own. so I cant see a team like Prema taking that risk.

Plus isnt that exactly what the Vcarb team is supposed to be?
and to an extent, Williams for Merc, and alfa for Ferrari?

I know Williams is no longer the Merc junior seat, and Sauber is no longer the Ferrari junior seat (that is now Hass)

Its just me postulating a way to circulate newbies into F1

That stays in place, but what if the guy winning F1 isn't part of a junior program? Is he stuck? What if there are no available seats like in beginning of 2024?

and who builds the Engine and the car for the Prema team in F1?
There is a standard FIA vehicle, but I assume it would be easier to have a deal with Merc or Red Bull, then someone like Dallara could develop on top of that? Maybe Prema has the capacity? Maybe they can have a deal that because they are a junior team they can use, say, Merc's previous year's car like the OG Racing Point?

I like that idea too. The driver can use that time to find a contract with a professional team.

I would say it would focus more on experience for rookies than prize money.

For Red Bull drivers, yes it is. For everyone else, hahaha nope.

Williams: Has its own academy (Hello Franco Colapinto)
Sauber: Has its own academy (Hello Zane Maloney-- Hey look its BORTALETO!)
Haas: Basically the Ferrari academy, but not quite. "Hey Haas I have this Bearman guy who wants a drive..."
Mercedes: Has an academy, usually interns drivers at Williams but not sure now. Seems to hire the newbs straight into its main team, apparently
Aston Martin: Has an academy. Drugovich stays on the sidelines in perpetuity with more drivers queuing up behind him.

I know Williams is no longer the Merc junior seat, and Sauber is no longer the Ferrari junior seat (that is now Hass)
I think the new engine manufacturers may have their own demands, like Audi and Toyota wanting a junior program

Time to reactivate the F1TVPro.

Have not found any codes or deals.

Annual fee = R1049
Monthly x10 = R1049.99 from today until 27 December after the season ends.

Guess I'll be going monthly unless someone has a code/deal?

why 10 months? isnt there a summer break of a month where you can just not reniew your subscribtion and take it out again before the next race?

Getting F1TV for 8 months

Getting F1TV for 8 months
I just do the annual. The issue is my memory. I will end up forgetting to cancel, and I don't like doing things manually, especially to save R200.

I just end up watching some of the documentaries or whatever else they have during the breaks...
