He was on softs. He struggled to catch Charles until his engineer told him to let the tyres cool down a bit...

Scrappy qualifying run this weekend that compromised his race and he didn't move forward in the race itself, so a very average weekend.

Also if you look at last years results, it does seem that Oscar battles a bit during the America's leg. Last year he was nowhere during most of the races with Lando the stronger driver.

I think once we get to Las Vegas we can see if this is still the case or not. It might very well be a Max Vs Lando battle at Abu Dhabi...
 
It might also swing quicker than those scenario's. If Oscar gets another dnf or places 4th or lower in the next race or two.

Russel and Leclerc could very well be the championship deciders at the end of the year.

This is still Oscar's to lose and bear in mind that Max has to win the majority of races above, so a long shot for him. All that said, there has been a trend lately at Macca and it's not looking good - the only 2-3 finish they've had recently was 4 races ago:

Would be fantastic is Max can make it 5 in row but I think its not going to happen, too many things must happen in Max favour to make it possible.
 
The easiest way for McLaren to sort out their mess is whoever qualifies higher gets race priority. This removes lap 1 incidents between their own drivers, and the drivers will have nobody else to blame except themselves...

Giving one driver a slower car to let the other win the championship wouldn't even make the top 10 of shady things F1 teams have done.

Maybe a bit far-fetched, but in a totally plausible "I wouldn't bet money against it" kinda way.
 
You could see Piastri's car has less pace the last few races.

Whoever’s in the lead when drs is first enabled should get priority.
