I was meaning more physical, like his nearest competitors are only allowed 50kg of fuel for the race or have to have an air brake on the rear wing controlled from the Ferrari pit wall :p

It moved, but we're talking about less than a 100th of a degree rotation on the wheel... Their sensors couldn't pick it up, it was that small.

Ric needs to stop with the shoe thing for a podium finish. He should only do it when he wins.

He wasn't going to do it, it was that Brundle Idiot who asked him to, just so that he could pretend (he only sipped it) he had done a shoey and grab the attention.

Brundle wanted the shoe for a Charity auction , so had good intentions at heart .

Never, every driver should have a signature celebration. Ricciardio just needs a winning car now and he'll have athlete's mouth by the end of the season :D

Valtteri Bottas was cleared of jumping the start at the Austrian Grand Prix because any movement his car made before the lights went out was within tolerance limits allowed, the FIA has revealed.

The FIA has explained, however, that some movement before the lights go out is allowed because of the need occasionally for drivers to make adjustments to their clutch in those crucial moments before the start.

Such a system has been in place for 20 years and has been accepted by all competitors.

An FIA spokesman said that any movement observed on Bottas' car between the five lights being on and them going out was within this allowed limit - which is why the Finn was not deemed to have done anything wrong.

"In today's instance, Valtteri Bottas did not exceed this (very small) limit before the start was given," said the spokesman.

"Simply put: he made an exceptionally accurate and fortuitous judgement call, anticipating the moment the lights went out with great precision. Any movement prior to the moment the lights went out was within the tolerances allowed."

Remember, it really matters little if he did or didn't, it's whether the FIA deems he did or didn't that counts.

Williams, Mercedes and Force India seem like the only teams that can provide their cars with consistent, equal service. Quite a substantial difference at Ferrari as Vettel routinely receives better service.

There is quite a difference at Red Bull as well, but that could be skewed by Verstappen's recent string of early showers.

^^Interesting. To be fair to McLaren though, they usually don't last long enough in the race to make it to the first round of pitstops :whistle:

Good observation as well.

Would it be fair to assume that like Williams, while their cars are not the best (Williams and McLaren) the organisations have maintained their high levels of professionalism and efficiency?

One of the main reasons he moved from Mclaren was to be able to turn down promotional events if and when he wants.

I do feel sorry for him having to go to Renault, but if it gets him a good ride in the next 2 years, kudos!

Looking forward to seeing these new cars on this track. The high speed switchbacks through the Maggots/Becketts/Chapel complex as well as the right hander Copse should be a sight to behold.
