I've mentioned this before, and maybe I'm crazy, but does anyone else see the point of Sasha Martinengo? He's not a very good commentator or presenter, he doesn't speak very well, and doesn't actually have much credibility but somehow he's managed to convince people that he's an F1 "guru" (Supersport's description not mine).

To add to that - the Cape Times today had "Sasha's view" on the race. I'm sorry but the guy should stick to being a DJ as he is a complete moron...

Wahahahaha someone else who thinks like me..

I actually put the TV on mute or change the channel when that twit starts speaking....

I've seen him get things wrong SO many times, on basic things like legendary corners of race tracks its just pathetic.

I also don't listen to the 3 of them when the commentary comes on then I turn up the volume. Why we can't rather get Martin Brundle introduction I don't know.

Don't forget the other two idiots as well. maybe we could get DSTV to appoint more neutral presenters

SuperSport's whole quality of presenters has been in the decline for a while.

Totally agree. They always state the blindingly obvious! They add nothing. I'd rather they showed the pit walk about that the UK gets for the half hour before the race. They interview the drivers, team members and even Bernie (urrghh). However, I think there is some sort of TV rights issue there.

All I know is if we can't have the half hour that the UK gets then we should just get coverage from when the race starts! It would even save Supersport some money by not having to employ Tweedle Dees and Dums.

Sasha - WoW so and so was fast!

Vik - Yes he was fast!

POPCORN

To add to this, I now VPN into the UK and watch the build up on iPlayer. It's incredible - they usually have a technical segment with Martin or David and really get into the details. Then also interviews with top managers or drivers. The whole BBC production is amazing. I actually feel embarrassed watching the local rubbish. I can even understand Gary and that other dude as they have something to do with racing but Sasha Martinengo has no idea. Somehow his agent has managed to convince people that he knows what he's doing. Goes to show that it's not what you know...

The same could be said of other sport on Supersport as well... , just cut to the live feed

Well sasha is useless but it is dstv's fault because they actually don't have much to chat about other than what we see on the tv.

So it's more a case of them having no material to work with. I want the live feed back on 208, give us the choice!!!!!!!

I LOVE this thread .. I have detested that wannabe F1 "guru", "the ONLY car is a Ferrari" Sasha M for years. I really do wish MC would buy the overseas pre-race coverage. I've seen it overseas and it is interesting, with interviews with pit crews, drivers, etc

This entire thread = WIN!
I wish the top-brass at DSTV could read this...not that they'd listen but it might give them some food for thought.

Some of us aren't, Sasha... :(

All the best for the future, mate...

I will be the first in line to sign a petition to remove this moron from tv (F1).

I could not agree more the whole SS setup is a joke compared to the UK broadcasters not even mentioning the unbelievable Sky F1 coverage. I would put money on a few of us here doing a better job.

Personally speaking, I will watch any F1 show, good, bad, irrespective, for the love of the sport.

Having said Absolute F1 definitely needs beefing up. Its audience is not F1 noobs that are getting a feel for the sport and drivers, we are advanced fans wanting to know about technical details, strategies, design concepts, etc.

And you don't have to spend half the show playing snippets of the last race. If we are watching AF1, we watched the last race, or watched the recording, or the next days transmission, etc.

The current show is feeding us boredom.
