Facebook is a disease

Linux creator and principal developer Linus Torvalds has expressed his disdain for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Speaking in an interview with Linux Journal, Torvalds labelled the platforms a “disease”, arguing that they seem to enable bad behaviour.

How do you hide all posts from people and not groups? remove all friends? Groups are about the only thing it is useful for, and as a business tool.. but people make it painful to use and weeding through the bullshit seems to be 90% of the requirement. Maybe a grouping option to unfollow everybody especially all the narcissists? Maybe a labelling system to chose who you just want as a contact or who's content you actually want to see etc.

Social media helps idiots proliferate and spread their stupidity.

And its only really a tool if you are using it for business, marketing thus have a different agenda for its purpose.
 
Thing is you decide what content you will see on Facebook by virtue of who you add and what pages or groups you are subscribed to.

If your feed becomes toxic it is YOUR fault.

And I agree with him. Social Media (Twitter etc) gives dumb people a platform and voice to spill their stupid to the world. It gives every idiot a loud voice..

Dunno, I got rid of my FB "friends" that were dicks with loud voices. Don't see the problem.

You go onto the person or groups profile and select follow if you want to follow them or not and mute if you never want to see them.
 
Isn't the newsmedia a worse disease then, because it gives the few a platform to spew their garbage/hatred/etc?

So how do you do this as one batch instead of hitting hundreds of profiles to mute all? You realise Facebook doesnt want you to do this, goes against their strategy.

Can you hide recommended ****? Can you hide facebook ads and sponsored fake content? Can you stop facebook showing you conversations between people you have nothing to do with?
