Facebook is a disease

Thing is you decide what content you will see on Facebook by virtue of who you add and what pages or groups you are subscribed to.

If your feed becomes toxic it is YOUR fault.

I wish, but I have a FB a/c, zero friends, zero posts, all I do is keep tabs on a few interest groups (weather mostly). And while it isn't toxic, the adverts are. Reporting the spammy ones, just seems to trigger the algorithms to send me more of the same. I'm drowning in these stupid adverts for some or other scam using fake news to get you to click.

So how do you do this as one batch instead of hitting hundreds of profiles to mute all? You realise Facebook doesnt want you to do this, goes against their strategy.

Can you hide recommended ****? Can you hide facebook ads and sponsored fake content? Can you stop facebook showing you conversations between people you have nothing to do with?

How do you mute all the **** that you subscribed to? You don't go onto Facebook, your fault for having a large bunch of shite.

You can't hide recommendations but you can just ignore them or if your really petty you can click on the report button and say you don't want recommendations, thing is they become very good if the content you follow is stuff you like, however you already said you failed at that so again, your fault.

Can you stop Facebook showing you conversations you are not part of? Yes, mute those people you don't want to see, you added one of the parties that's why you are seeing it, or just don't go into the comments if you don't want to see comments/

I imagine when books started being published some people thought they were diseased as well.

And television. The horror!

Go smoke a fat one Linus!

Perhaps because there is no more weather content to show you.

Would you consider this forum to be a social media platform too?

The problem with bookface, twatter and instafail, is that most don't venture outside the confines of the platforms, believe pretty much any news story and in general quite narrow minded, while this forum falls under "social platform", majority of the users here venture out into the rest of web and in general know how to use the internet to their advantage, they have a far wider scope of things in general as well.

To be honest I have a twatter and bookface account only so that I can get in contact with various companies, there is no point in instafail for me, unless they have the option to share my daily bowel movement pictures on their.(Any one remember ratemypoo.com ?) :D

So true this, gullible people everywhere you see it in the comments especially.

Yeah, and once you have killed yourself with the insane micromanagement of content restrictions you realise Facebook is useless and in order to make it useful, you need to deal with the rubbish Facebook feeds to you. Facebook is the leader in Fake News and militant personal opinions.

I disabled my account and couldnt be happier. But if you use it happily, then good for you.

Mine was 2012 sometime.
Yoh that's a long time ago. Did you delete your account?
I only deactivated mine and will pop back on again when I feel the time is right.
I just find it very 'noisy' and too many people bitching.
Love Instagram, it is nice and quiet and people don't complain there, just share their awesome photos.

Deactivated. No delete option that I could find that time. But then again I just wanted to get off.
If I ever feel like it will log in again but to delete it.

If he was really that smart he would figure out how to configure such a platform to be of use to him.
Facebook is a tool, learn how to use it to your advantage.
Yes, he is "really that smart".
His academic record and numerous awards are proof.

see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linus_Torvalds

Facebook is not a use "tool" as you put it, your personal information is the product being sold.

Facebook is just one security issue after another.

Be the security issues as it may its still a tool, a tool used to create a feed of content chosen by you.
