Facebook reading WhatsApp messages?

WhatsApp has the same e2e as Signal uses (apparently).

Telegram rolled their own crypto, doesn't have e2e encryption by default (you have to start a secret chat). They are Russian, not sure if I'd trust them. Got a mate who works in Infosec and he says he wouldn't touch it.

and telegram has no need to harvest your contacts. they do not belong to facebook....

Signal protocol is open sourced and was under huge scrutiny by the InfoSec community. Telegram is closed off, and no one knows exactly how their crypto works.

there are going to be countless other people coming here with the same question. and everyone who knew and understood what whatsapp was doing and did not uninstall and move family and friends immediately are 100% to blame.

and again. I am a huge fan of telegram. I like the way the app works and interacts. and if I want to discuss private matters, its in secret chat, wiht a timeout. the rest of the time it is unencryted and I am fine with that.

you don't like Telegram, fine, move to signal. or BBM, or wechat, or gtalk, or Alo, or KaoTalk just as long as you get off whatsapp. and get friends and family off it too.

The answer is never because no one else has enough of spine to stand up for privacy and do what is right.

At least Whatsapp uses Signal protocol, so the message content is private. Metadata is another beast.

its too late, this is just the first part. I am telling you. spam adds from companies are coming to whatsapp. it will be the top contact in your chat and you will not be able to block it or unsubscribe. I promise you now that is the goal for them.
