Just thought I'd warn people of this fake courier website that's been around for years scamming people for fake customs duty fees.
I received a convincing email on Sunday, addressing me by my full name with a tracking number.
I was suspicious of it, so I searched for the site on Google and manually input the tracking info.
Sure enough, it showed tracking info for a supposed package sent from China to CPT that had gone through customs and was awaiting payment of about R100.
I was expecting a phone battery from China through Buffalo, but it was supposedly seized and destroyed by customs months ago.
At first I thought that's what it was, but then I realized I'd used a different email for the battery I ordered.
A quick Google confirmed my suspicion as some posts about "Logistek Couriers" have been made on Carbonite.
Since there's no posts about it on here, I thought I would post this to warn anyone who might have received the same email.
I've received a lot of obvious fake courier/SAPO customs payment emails, but this one is more elaborate as they address you by your full name, and have an actual website they load the unique tracking numbers to.
There's a broken PayPal payment button which is a red flag, they seem to want card payments.
If it wasn't for the fact that the email they sent it to wasn't the one I'd used for the battery I ordered, and the posts on Carbonite, I would honestly have fallen for this.
