Faking the Internet with the DStv Explora

Yip... Koos is not the sharpest tool in the shed.. I bet he doesn't pay for his subs either, its "on the house" as is the 4k TV set he has.

Bwahahahahahaha!

Koos is sharper than most SA men I know.

He made a PR comment, that’s it, protecting DSTV. In my opinion against prior allegations in regard with Mweb shaping and DSTV (online Supersport streaming). Where I believe that both Mweb and DSTV is wrong and should own up to their mistakes and silly public announcements like the one Koos made now.

Koosi: Koos isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I lol'd :p

So according to him, the same internet you can get for the price of DSTV premium with PVR, isn't good enough to stream sport on the internet. R 625.00 (DSTV premium) + R70 (extra PVR fee) = R695

That amount can give you a 4mbit uncap bundle (with the new pricing) and some cash left over, and you can stream 720p content on Netflix fine with that line. So why can't you stream 720p content locally with that line. It doesn't make sense. If we can stream 720p content from international sources and 480p perfectly, why can't it be done locally. Not to mention the quality might even be better than DSTV. Especially DSTV SD channels are nowhere near real 480p.

Don't DSTV offer streaming on the web already? Is that fake too?

The is the kind of comment you get when you have a bean counter running a technology company. Pity he didn't let his more technically inclined staff make this comment, they would have possibly uttered the right words

Indeed... bean counter's paradise.

And he is talking about his latest "Internet enabled decoder" with those features disabled so the internet can be faked properly without the real thing getting in the way. FFS !!

This has nothing to do with the Explora (as far as I know)..

The other PVR's have CatchUp as well don't they?

Yes, and its worth waiting for the catchup broadcast as it does not get interrupted every 8 mins for an advertisement

Makes me think of this...

talking about tim and eric

it sums up their product offering pretty much... so much innovation

I am astonished that he is actually using a DStv decoder.... What does he have to say regarding the reboots and slow interface?

I haven't used the Explora but at R2.5k, I doubt I will use it soon...

He is so busy fleecing... uhm... "making money" he is hardly ever home to watch the thing. His maid/wife/SO probably resets it all the time. Most people of his calibre that I know of, spend very little time at home.
