Faking the internet. Maybe the internet is faking the SABC.

Three things:

1. How do you Fake the internet? (This ain't China)

2. “We simply don’t have the bandwidth,” said Bekker. This what Derrick told you in a Mweb board meeting... now we are shaped and throttled.

3. “But we can fake it a bit by putting it on satellite, loading it down into the PVR and then offering it to you as if it were the internet.” Koos... you know that this is a broadcast (communication) medium???

I can't believe I actually read the whole article :wtf: I mean really, my local newspaper also 'fakes the internet'.

Lol! Wtf is talking about? Surely, this is like saying TV fakes Netflix and YouTube? It's a different technology not a work around.

can't watch sport on the internet? someone should tell ESPN that as I have been watching that regularly, from a 8mb line.

Why the grief?

All he's saying is that the Explora has functionality that is typically provided using broadband rather than satellite; as most people don't have lines capable 8Mb+ speeds.

So according to him, the same internet you can get for the price of DSTV premium with PVR, isn't good enough to stream sport on the internet. R 625.00 (DSTV premium) + R70 (extra PVR fee) = R695

That amount can give you a 4mbit uncap bundle (with the new pricing) and some cash left over, and you can stream 720p content on Netflix fine with that line. So why can't you stream 720p content locally with that line. It doesn't make sense. If we can stream 720p content from international sources and 480p perfectly, why can't it be done locally. Not to mention the quality might even be better than DSTV. Especially DSTV SD channels are nowhere near real 480p.

Makes me think of this...

Lots, you don't need 8Mb+ speeds to do streaming. We had the whole SuperSport streaming debacle, thrown in with Mweb elements. Everything being a Naspers product line.

Like I already stated, satellite and broadband (taking ADSL in line with the article context) access in SA is not the same medium, also utilised within separate horizontals.

This is a clear DSTV advertisement. This is what he is saying.

You are talking faking BS.
I dumped DSTV, got a decent uncapped ADSL account and now stream whatever I want to see...

What an idiot. Fake the internet??!!! Wft

Yip... Koos is not the sharpest tool in the shed.. I bet he doesn't pay for his subs either, its "on the house" as is the 4k TV set he has.
