Farm Attacks

Yes the popo is the problem and that is part of an equation we can't fix.
So I'm trying to see what else can be done.

Farmers have now started to stand together and TALK. They are just talking.
Again not trying to start a fight, trying to get a solution - A working solution.

Thats why I'm asking if money is a problem.
It's difficult to say.

In Hunters case above running some kind of business on a plot is very risky. People that work or visit talk. The criminals almost always gain inside information.

Then just basic security, how did they get in?
How did the basic security fail?
Community watch and neighbors and stuff?

Agreed, the problem I have is the gun free zones. Maybe this needs to change.

If a farmer can carry 24/7 but when he goes to PnP he needs to leave the weapon at home as the building has a no gun sign on it.

This is 1 thing I can think of that needs to change
That sign is the same as no smoking or no skateboarding.

As long as I keep smokes in pocket or skateboard in a bag i can enter the store no probs.

I have been carrying my FA concealed for 8+ years almost everyday all over.

Some silly sign is not going to stop a criminal and the proprietor is sure as hell not going to protect my life (or my loved ones) in return for me leaving my licensed protection behind so seeing as SAPS has seen me fit and competent to operate and carry a firearm I shall continue to do so as and where I can.

Those few places where they check usually provide safes for storage but if they dont I have a SAP approved safe in my car as a backup.

I might be wrong but that is how I understood the rules of idiots. 1 step further. What if a farmer wants to go to a bank?
One can't enter a bank with a weapon. Every time kippie die **** moet alleen in die kar sit want ekt n wapen aan my

That's why you have your weapon concealed. If they do see it and ask you to leave, just leave. Ive had a pistol on my for 10 years and not one shop has made me, nobody has ever seen me carry.

Just ignore those signs seeing as you are not breaking the law

Again, go in, unless you want to rob the bank but that's against the law.

A combination of money and decades of indoctrinated fear..... interestingly the fear seems to be disapating at about the same rate as the money is. An approaching point of nothing left to loose probably.

And I get what you both are saying, but something has to change. Look I dont have an answer.
But jirre next we might have a new article of someone being killed again.

I have carried into every bank I've been to in the last 8 years :-)

As long as your dont whip it out in public it wont offend anyone.
Nb. Referring to a firearm ofcourse ;-)

Thats exactly my problem. If this happens to me the popo gets some lekker guns for free when I lose my competency and licenses
Just keep your firearm on you. If you get to a metal detector you can either;

Go somewhere else
Have a plan B as to why the detector went off...

No man, dont give this type of advice. Its illegal to do it and if the vehicle is stolen it means there's another firearm on the streets.
People need to way up their own risk.

What are the chances of the car being stolen broken into if you are not to obvious about it and parked in a safe parking spot vs taking it into a bank vs leaving it at home.

ATM the only viable options are organizations like the VVS and BL that try their darndest to work with rather than against the police as far as I can see. Once things get more dire things will change I suspect.

Do they have a fund where one can contribute to?

I'll sommer search for it thanks.

Hoping we can start getting to a point where we all are getting safer in our day to day lives.
