In a scene paramedics described as "carnage", two elderly people were found murdered on their farm in the Free State on Wednesday morning.

"Paramedics were called to the farm this morning at [8am] and when they arrived on scene they were faced with absolute carnage," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

He said the murder at Plaas Poortjie Farm, located between Senekal and Steinrus, appeared to have taken place late on Tuesday night.

"The male, aged 65, and his 60-year-old wife had passed away during the night due to the severe trauma they had sustained."

Police comment was not immediately available.

Question is when will these crimes against the farmers end?
Speculation:......Is this not a land grab disguised as "just another robbery"?

You would be forgiven for thinking there was a definite plot to literally scare farmers off their lands.

this is terrible and more of these bastards deserve to be shot in the head at close range.

if it is a land grab first of all find out who inherits the farm now. also crime will end when criminals end. when will hijackings against white automobile owners end?

People are questioning if it's a land grab because the possibility exists that they were threatened prior to move. Farm violence is a horribly common thing and there are regular cases of calls to police to come and assist or of people driving with trucks of armed folks to a gate. Could be a push for a landgrab or it could just be some sick F**** who decided to beat/intimadate/molest a elderly couple.

We have some very sick .... things... living in this country.

we have very sick people living in our country, but we can't turn a horrible murder into a conspiracy. there is no proof suggesting it was a land grab other than it being farmers and a brutal murder. it can be a land grab without it being brutal and it can be brutal without it being a land grab.

Hence the word possibility.

The high incidence of farm murders, the cut in security and the lack of government concern points to a deliberate blind eye.

Speculation on my part and looking at the possibility of it been more than just a robbery.:o
Given the need for land and the reluctance of farmers to part with their land it’s possible that "other" elements are at work to destabilize and through fear and intimidation have the farmers sell the land or abandon it.
The rewards vs risks related to farming should not to be taken lightly given the risks nowadays.
Hence farmers leave their farms un-attended and rather live in town.

i disagree tho, the only possibility of it being a land grab is that it's been suggested before. there has been no evidence so far until we see who inherits the farm, as far as possibilities go it could just be a murder. suggesting a land grab means the government had a hand in this or encouraged it.

A sgebenga robs a whiteman`s belongings in Jozi, its not home grabs ? The criminals dont give a shyt about land and what not . All they want is money for castle milk stout and weed . Wheteher you are black or coloured , they are going to be brutal . those farmers live alone , so they are soft targets for the rural mafiaz .
this conspiracy theory is laughable and is consistent with " Black threat theory ".

there is a high incidence of murders in general, tho i won't disagree that white farm murders are often brutal. what cut in security? and the government has not turned a blind eye, it's just being incompetent as usual, and if it has turned a blind eye i'd need a little more proof.

i agree with you, it's easy to suggest a land grab simply because it was a farm and the owners that were brutally murdered were white. white people are not the only people brutally murdered in our country

Its another step in making a country fall to its knee's. Disrupt the food supply.
Install fear in the farmers and they will sell and move on. The farms will end up in the hands of incompetent farmers and produce no crop.

The killing and often torturing etc. of farmers are intimidating to other white farmers, whether politically motivated or not. How often do you hear of this kind of thing happening to black farmers?:D

A lot of people think these are military and/or government related.

It takes quite a bit of training to get the sort of information required to make such successful assaults. Things like where the roads lead, the layout of the house etc..

People think it's easier to just rob a farm, but it's very hard... it costs quite a bit for a common criminal too. They need to know what security measures are in place, who will be where at what time, do the have weapons and how much money is in the safe.

They monitor the movements of the farmers and know when they go to church, town or where they are working...

Now the hardest part is to let no-one see them, there are hundreds of workers on large farms yet almost never will anyone be seen leaving or entering the area even though the road to the farmhouse usually leads past the workers houses.

If this is the work of the military or a government branch, this would explain why there would be so little prosecutions. Simply put a regular band of soldiers can get into an area and leave without leaving any evidence and they don't have any motives the motive would be with another higher power.

Farm murders would not even be on the radar if not for organizations like afri forum, recording murders and letting the media know. The police tend to try and keep this quiet because a murder looks bad for the rep of the government.
