The Coffee spot
Figure this can be a nice place to share information on stuff like where you buy your beans (of ground coffee), what equipment you use and what method you use when you make coffee and so on. I'll update the dealers' information in this post if this topic picks up
So my main suppliers are (in order of preference):
Aroma only stocks two kinds of beans though. They roast beans from Guatemala, Ethiopia and Uganda, all of which are awesome!! They roast the beans on-site at least once a week, so you know you'll get freshly roasted coffee
Kahve is awesome for variety in terms of origins. They have a much broader range of flavours compared to Aroma, but their coffee ain't always super fresh.
Simo's Coffee - just because it's close to where I stay. They also sell flavoured coffee, which I believe is morally unsound
I prefer to buy my coffee in-store. I ordered coffee from YuppieChef once before, but I received the beans 3 weeks after the roast date. I go through about 500g every 3/4 weeks, so by the time I finished the batch, the taste was already almost gone
As far as my setup:
I use an Aeropress most of the time, but I also use a moka pot when I have guests over. My grinder is a Solis Scala (best burr grinder on the friendly side of R1,000) and I use a Severin Induction Milk frother to, well, froth milk.
Does anyone else know of any cool places which sell coffee? Or what awesome coffee gadgets do you guys use?
