It's based on Ubuntu, with its repository, so all software you want from Ubuntu you'll find in there. Have it installed on my laptop.
Unfortunately not Fedora, of which I'm also a fan, but functional and practical.
In all honesty I hate ubuntu and ubuntu variants they just feel hopelessly slow, but this OS, omg winner!!!!
I guess I also don't like ubuntu based systems, because I learned the CentOS/Fedora/Red Had commands first.

Yeah they go for a very Apple like design ethos but without making a pure clone and still keeping it their own original system.
And it's Ubuntu underneath so a wealth of apps available.
