FHD LCD TV'S

Hmmm i have not seen the LA40D550 anywhere though. Well not for 5k anyhoo.

So could a plasma display more than 60 FPS :D.

They also have a sony kdl-40bx420 for 4999.00

Take some content on a flash drive with and test. If you can't plug it into the tv, then it's not the tv you are looking for. ;)

Well game has it on special for 4699.00 went on special today. So i just need to google a bit tonight and then i will go pick up tomorrow or wednesday hopefully.

Still wondering about that plasma, is it better for gaming?

K so postman the 43 inch plasma? I realize you do not know the model in question.

So i guess 43" inch JVC FTW. They say plasma has near zero response or something along those lines. I must just check that it has anti burn in tech

Didn't read through all the postings, but just got myself a PN51D550. Blown the sox off an Samsung LED fanboy. He's trying to sell his 2 x 42" LED's to get one of these.

Thanks.

Hifi corp just stated to me that they have a big TV's promotion as from Wednesday, maybe worth the wait?

Okie dokie so i have done some googling based on what postman has said and it seems plasma is the way to go for gaming.

Won't even look at a lcd for gaming now, i will wait for wednesday and cruise up to hi fi to see what plasma's specials they will have but plasma seems the better technology for gaming and movies.

To burn in a plasma you basically have to leave it on the same image for hours and with anti burn tech that has all but been eliminated. The only down side is it uses more power but i can live with that.

Plasmas may have very fast refresh rates but they are also susceptible to input lag. I also rate lesser brands are more likely to have those sort of issues.

Good to hear but which 42" LED backlit LCDs? PS51D550 would have a tough battle against Samsung >6 Series LED-LCDs.

K so i got the jvc 43" plasma.

Awesome tv, bf 3 is down so i cannot test it. I am not sure why it looks blurry with hdmi and works okish with vga. I have got the text about right just make it bigger and zoom in when browsing.

Movies look insane. I hope bf 3 is up tomorrow so i can test it but for now i am pretty happy although i am wondering if the sammy 5 series for 4699 would have been better but until i test bf 3 i won't know. The picture when in windows is pretty poor actually. I never bought it for windows or work though so hopefully bf 3 looks as kick ass as the movies :D.

Not sure what the menu is like, but basically you need to try set that HDMI1 port to PC Mode or something like that which disables overscan and basically turns it into a monitor.

For PC use you'd want lowest sharpness. You'd want an option like "screen fit", which when set in your graphics card options, should give 1:1 pixel mapping.

model no ?

Basically open CCC and scroll to My Digital Flat Panel. This is where most of your settings are.

1) You might need to tweak GPU scaling
2) Overscan at 0%
3) Pixel format Ycbcr 4:4:4

Also set the usual 1080p, 60Hz, etc.

Hope that helps?

Basically my understanding is that VGA looks good because the TV has some sort of PC mode which fixes everything on the TV's side in order to get a good PC picture. It detects that you're connecting some sort of PC device due to VGA being used. So I would believe that one should be able to apply these settings using HDMI port #1. On Samsung, in the Source List (as you probably know, sources are linked to the source inputs at the back), HDMI1 is renamed to HDMI1 DVI/PC. Maybe this is a clue as to what to look for on your JVC.

Actually really excited to hear how this JVC 43" FHD plasma is...!
