FHD LCD TV'S

killadoob, how much have you been playing around in the CCC?
I have an LCD but I remember having to do quite a bit of messing around in CCC to get my FullHD working correctly on HDMI.
Also, I don't think there's something wrong with your cable, you can try another one but my guess would be the cable is just fine. I've used anything from cheap to expensive cables and they all work the same as long as you're using 1.5M.

As far as I can remember one of the things that I had to do was to add the 1080P mode with the correct refresh rate in CCC, I also had to use overscan to get the image to fit but it didn't affect the 1:1 pixel mapping. I wonder if maybe your TV isn't doing the same but somehow automatically stretching the "small" 1080P image to fit the display when in fact it just needed an overscan setting in CCC.

Also make sure you turn off any fancy post processing type stuff on the TV. You obviously just want the screen to display the image from the PC without *****footing around. I'm sure you know all this though, just saying... :P

Thanx dude i have seen those profiles and tried to add a few but didn't change much.

What i am going to do is download 11.12 drivers and start fresh. I am going to tinker today and get it going or i will get just use the vga. It's not the cable i replaced the cable with a 5m one, i needed it so it worked out well but ya it didn't help :D.

Look i know my plasma has bigger pixels than lcd's i think so it was never going to look like my 23" monitor but it should not be so blurry over hdmi. I have got it a lot better but i think starting fresh will be the best bet. I was also sitting right on top of it last night and now i have pixels burnt into my eyes haha. Busy setting it proper so i can view from about 3m. Please note i did step back and look at the picture so i am not being noob and thinking the picture looks kuk from half a M :p. I just want to setup it up proper first and then i will worry about hdmi, if need be i will run the plasma purely for gaming and then run my 23" for normal stuff or i will just run off the vga which works pretty much 100%.

Does CCC "detect" the plasma TV?

I'm convinced HDMI is still over-scanning, so need to work on getting that disabled.

It picks up mstar demo, it does pick up a flat screen though. Ya i am sure it's just a simple setting or jvc neglected the pc over hdmi but this is a very common problem with all types of tv's and ati.

That is my exact issue, overscan is at 0%.

His setup is not exactly like mine but pretty close. Post you know the ati has those small eye finity ports, i am using a small port adapter to large port then into tv hdmi 1. Perhaps i need a cable that goes directly from the small port on my card into the big port haha.

For Radeon cards I found it best to use a DVI->HDMI converter because it does some funny business when using the cards HDMI port (which also only works once booted into windows? ie. blank when in dos.)

Then if possible, now this feature I've only seen on Samsung flat-panels, set the input to HDMI1/DVI and apply the DVI PC profile (again, only seen these profile things on Samsung flat-panels). This will automatically have the image fill the screen with overscan set to 0. It also is the only config I've seen that provides near monitor-like fine text on a flat-panel TV.

Yea thanx i should have bought the bloody hdmi convertor at cable link when i was there, i will go up later and grab one :D. Must try all avenues i guess :D.

Sadly i got nothing like that, JVC say it will auto tune to device plugged in.

In other words: "We know f-all". I guess they could be right though. Need to bypass the auto tuning!

Basically. Well i got everything up and running. Now i just need to get a bit time later to run the new drivers and test the dvi to hdmi connector as well along with the vga.

Cool. I'm also surprised that you don't have the options I mentioned in CCC. Perhaps via HDMI it doesn't detect it? Does it detect via VGA? Or does it still say MSTAR? Nothing like My Digital Flat Panels tab? I know I'm on an older version but I wouldn't think it'd change so much to exclude that important tab. So perhaps it gets "unlocked" when screen is detected correctly.

Sweet, loaded up the new drivers. Put the dvi to hdmi in and booya :D.

Not sure if it was the driver or mini hdmi ports though but i don't care. Finally overscan is on 0% with a full screen. Text is clear, not like my 23" lcd but i never expected that clarity but ya finally it's working :D. The blur she's gone :D. Thanx a lot gents, looking lovely. I can actually see black text now haha awesome.

My only issue now is the taskbar won't go behind when i play video's, it stays in front of it. I can hide it of course but perhaps you guys know how to fix it :D. I hope it won't do that when i bf 3 tonight but for now i will just hide it. The screen also keeps making slight adjustments every say 30 seconds or so.

Should i run it at 59hz or 60hz? Interesting from the mini ports on my card it runs at 1080i from the dvi to hdmi it runs at 1080p.

I remeber the Flat-Panel tab being there for every 11.xx driver I tried this year, while running 2x DVI LCD monitors, 1x LED monitor via HDMI->HDMI, 1x LED monitor via DVI->HDMI, 1x LED TV via DVI->HDMI, 1x LCD TV via DVI->HDMI : it always been there. It may be only for certain cards though, maybe all 3xxx+ since I think they added HDMI since then.

Nice dude!
This damn thread sparked a neuron in my brain now, been staring at a freakin' 55" JVC 3D LED they have at HiFiCorp for R10K.... uugh.

Must. Not. Spend.

Thanks for confirming. Killa, do you see it now?

Cool... So you reckon it's full HD?

60Hz.

Pics/vids please?

Kewl will try remember the camera on my way back from work haha :D. I also noticed some nvidia drivers were still loaded which i removed with driver sweeper so it could also have been that. I fiddled with so many things i honestly have no idea what the issue was. Yup full hd.

Yea i saw that 55" jvc at the nashua shop, holy F it was insane. It's not crystal clear but boy it looks pretty good but why is the image shofting every 20 seconds i wonder? Could be that anti burn tech or something.

Could be... What's the menu like?

If you could take a video of navigating through the menu, that would be epic for future buyers.

Interesting from the mini ports on my card it runs at 1080i from the dvi to hdmi it runs at 1080p.
I suspect this has to do with the proper HDMI port (mini one) having a command channel (HDMI-CEC), while DVI only carries the video signals. When HDMI devices are interconnected they exchange type/capability information.

For instance when I 1st plugged my Samsung 46D6000 into my PS3 it said something like 'Connected to 46" 3D TV, is the correct?'. I also suspect the standards for this identification info is pretty loose and different vendor put in what they feel is best (like 1080i on the JVC?).

Further I believe the port renaming feature on some Samsung TVs (e.g. LCDs) changes its identification type from TV to Monitor, which stops GPU drivers from adding overscan to the image. I think for TVs they anticipate it will be running 16:9 (underscan) mode so they add overscan to cancel the two out.

Quick hijack:

Really dumb question this, but when listening to 702 on dstv, will the constant black image hurt a plasma? Is an actual black image being shown or is the screen off with just the speakers going?
