Fiber install on Monday, need help with ISP

It is, I'm afraid, a first come first served situation on the intro offers. Doesn't mean it will be the only round of specials...:D

This is a stupid question but for a isp, how does fibre data differ from adsl data (only isp side)

Vumatel are finishing up their fibre installation in Riepen Park (near Hurlingham/Craighall). Any idea when your ISP will be able to offer packages in this area?

Thanks.

Well it enters the core over different ports but it's the exact same data other than that. There's no difference between the two in terms of makeup of the data packets and how it is delivered in the core network other than which ports and interconnects it uses...

We already cover all Vumatel areas, and all future areas as they come online...:)

That is a question that only Vuma can confirm. I cannot speak for them, particularly if there are any last minute, unforseen delays...

Thanks for the speedy replies.

I will be in touch as soon as they are live.

Hi,

I am the CEO of Crystal Web. Our VOIP links are complete and will certainly be available to all customers on our network. It's even easier than the current deployment methods which is why it has taken some time to get tested correctly. It is the same system that our enterprise customers use by the way.

With respect to the setup fee, a number of people are querying this with us. It is a direct cost from Vumatel to the ISP when a connection is provisioned. We incur that cost no matter what. Now if you look at the ridiculously cheap rates we're offering on introduction, I think you can understand why we cannot further cover this direct cost as well.

On the question of 10Mbps - Vuma doesn't offer a 10Mbps line, it's as simple as that, and the line is the vast bulk of the cost. We could theoretically offer a 10Mbps account on a 20Mbps line, but the cost saving to you would be minimal as like I said, the bulk of the cost is for the line itself and not the data...

It's fine to bring the setup fee down to the customers, it's just that it pushes it out of many of our budgets, thus not making it viable. I'd rather stay at a slow speed that I can afford, than a high one which I cannot.

If I could afford that much more I'd have been on 10Mb/s a long time ago.

Anyone know what technology/supplier is being used by Vumatel?

They use Raycore CPE's and active ethernet switching, the layer2 is managed by a company called Venturanext.
