Just filled in the interest forms for Olivedale. Found it interesting the 123Net shows 271 indications of interest, whilst Vuma states only 14.

Vumatel counts up from 0, 123 Net counts down from 290, it is actually 14 vs 19 :)

so looks like i'm outa luck, they stopped with the digging not far from my complex and they are complete. Can anyone confirm actual installation within their complex?

Down Bellairs as in closer to School Road, Jukskei Park?

I know they laid at the top (Dros) and pretty sure the middle too (past the school)

Mid-2014 they install and nothing has been said :/

You'd think that one of the ISPs which try reach the 20 odd cimplexes in the area with 50 houses each

Seems www.dngbroadband.co.za site - the ones that contacted us - is down. Closed ?

they did trench past the school last year didn't they? but not all the way down to Witkoppen side. I see they busy towards the gym now and behind by the hospital.

Dont understand why they didnt do the entire bell-airs drive last year. maybe because the area they didn't do falls under Noordhang and not north riding?

Anyone in the area hear anything more on who owns this fibre?

I can't believe they've just left it here or 8 months instead of trying to gain interest in that time ...

I've been looking at this for the last few years. I don't see them advertising AT ALL, so people don't know that they need to register their interest. Vumatel only have something like 4% registered interest in the area, so we're never going to get FTTH at this rate.

It makes me a sad sad panda.

Vumatel are busy installing fibre in Olivedale, so they're getting closer...

Know of any local forums through which we can spread the word to register interest - Whatsapp community groups, flyers door to door, etc?

The guys from Whitfields manage at least half of the complexes in the area. I could maybe see if we can get some kind of awareness campaign through them? I'm a homeowner smack in the middle of no-broadband land, aka North Riding.

I have kicked off the process in getting a campaign started through the complex management agents. We should see some awareness newsletters and such going out to the North Riding complexes in the next few weeks.

You would need to contact the management agents for the complexes in the area, and then do a small writeup on what FTTH is and why it is awesome. Include stuff like base pricing, and make sure you mention the price difference between ADSL, 3G/LTE and FTTH packages.

I asked the management agents to include it in their next few months' newsletters. The worst they could do is say no.

After that, I started working on a flyer of sorts. These have limited reach in today's world, I myself just toss flyers away without looking at them, so I'm not overly keen on using them.

Also, if there is a community board (like the ones ADT use in some areas), see if you could maybe put a website link on there with Fibre To The Home caption or something to that effect.

Do NOT assume that people know what FTTH is. You'd be surprised at just how ignorant the average consumer can be.

Hi All

Just an update: As I was leaving our complex I spotted some pink on the corner of Bellairs Dr and Danzinger Ave. I pulled over to investigate....
It was a couple of Vumatel employees measuring distance for fiber. I asked if he can maybe leak a time frame, but all I got from him was "Soon".

I see on their website that North Riding still needs 232 signups. Please remember to go show your interest on their website. I've showed interest on behalf of my 2 cats as well (they love bird videos on youtube).

Hi Guys, Get everyone you know to get on vumatel's site and show your interest for the area. 227 expressions required to get the whole of northriding into a planning phase.

You know with all the complexes, it should be that tough to get 232 signups.

One thing we are missing is a thriving Facebook community!
