Fibre in Morningside Durban

Hi Guys,

Openserve is laying cables outside my building on Lilian Ngoyi Road. Any idea on who I can contact to get installation for my building?

Thanks
If you said Windermere Rd everyone would know where that is.

Are you sure its not Metrofibre?

Metrob Fibre is also in the area, they doing a really crap job. Trenches left open, half my block is incomplete and no sign of them in the area.

Today however it was def OpenServe, they had the Openserve uniforms on and I spoke to the chap.
He says in the next 3 to 4 weeks Openserve should be live in the area.

Last week they were near the public heading towards Windermere Center.

They completed my area but we’re waiting for them to go live. Openserve that is. Here’s hoping it’s soon if yours is 3 to 4 weeks

Hey everyone. Been a while here since an update on the Morningside Durban thread. Good news on my side as Openserve seems to be doing our building install here on Sutton crescent. They started on the 23rd of September. Seems Metrofibre are a bit too busy in other areas to fully commit to one area. Would anybody know how long (roughly) a 29 unit building would take? I kind of preordered already via Axxess so i hope i don't get billed when its not yet exactly live .

I've signed my documents for the metrofibre build in my block. The build will be done by MYA fibre, they're doing the capital allocation and all that **** so I'm hoping by the November I'll have fibre

Just don't be tricked, co-erced into paying for extra meters, they will try anything... Just be careful!

Thats quite a complicated question to answer. We saw a 25 Unit building here go live in around 6 weeks with Openserve. While they were on "pre-order" only, we did manage to get the client activated and live before then. I would expect something similar for your build regarding time, but that all depends on when Openserve started etc...

Can confirm Openserve are building in this whole area. Not sure on the exact coverage, but in Glenwood they are also rapidly doing rollouts. Quite a few blocks in Windermere that we have pushed for near January. Seems like Metrofibre has also picked up the rollout there and some spread out Vumatel work too.

Our building install was done 2 weeks ago. Openserve contractors did a very neat job. Just waiting for the Windermere area to go live. Anybody know when this will be? They also still need to connect me from the point installed above my door to inside my unit.

Only Openserve really know and your ISP should be able to follow and chase for an update. Best guess would be around 2 weeks from now is when that section goes from pre-order to live, but it will be done in phased live switch over.

The install from above your door to your unit should be a relatively quick one, they should do all the units in a day.

We're not paying a cent
And that should always be the case, especially with Metrofibre as it costs nothing and the Termination points are even free if you get them in during the build phase.
No worries! Shout if you need specific assistance, we are always happy to help.

Exactly, out of our 23 units we only had 1 who didn't worry about getting her TP installed during the build. So she's going to have to pay extra at a later stage

Hey, so no updates here for Windermere. Openserve still has us on Pre-order phase. I still see little trenches here and there on some streets. I have contacted Openserve and most of the technicians don't know exactly when the area will be live. Perhaps anybody else knows ? :(
