Fibre in Ramsgate

Yeah, finally... they started trenching here in Tweni.

Its Telelanga/Cyanwood doing the work.

They talked to us and hand delivered letters announcing the build a couple weeks back and there's now about 200 guys in the north of Tweni trenching. According to my sister they took a week to finish her road. I'm in the south of Tweni so guess another month or two (though the letter sates 8-10 weeks it seems optimistic) before they get to me.

You guys in Ramsgate must get your councilors to get the ball rolling. Prior to this we had whatsapp groups with councilors involved.

Thanks for the news! Yeah I'll definitely check what I can do on my end as well. Also congrats on getting fibre soon :D

Keep us updated if you manage to speak to one of the councilors and what we can do to get things going.

So i took a drive this evening to check things out, seems the seapark, southport, hibberdine & umtentweni is going full speed, moving from north towards port shepstone, manaba, shellybeach & margate area.

Thank you for these pics! That's great stuff!

It seems Starlink is taking pre-orders scheduled time of arrival in Ramsgate is 2022 , deposit is $99 price per month is $99 and the hardware costs about $469.

Might be a plausible solution for those still waiting.

Telkom is putting up 3 5g towers too, if they aren't up already (saw the municipal approval 2 months ago) - Marburg, Oslo Beach, Shelly Beach.

I won't trust satellite for gaming. LTE can hold me over until fibre is installed.

64ms for gaming, I dont think its that bad.

I ended up ordering business fibre from PacketSky (via linkafrica), its pricey, and will cost me my whole families kidneys. but I need it in order to work, so its an expense I will have to facilitate.

yeah i chatted to a supervisor this morning, its frogfoot & they contracted to do all down to & including port Edward
Strange its not showing on the coverage as planned yet, wonder when they update the map.

Yeah, also saw their map is not updated accordingly at all.

So what's Telelanga and Cyanwood doing then? Are they just contracted trenchers? We got letters on a Telelanga letterhead saying Cyanwood is trenching with contact details for a Mark and Mickey.

I have heard from a few people Telkom or Openserve are busy digging up Ramsgate for fibre at the moment.
