Please tell me how it works.

Does Telkom own the fibre and ISP's rent from them - the same as we had to have a Telkom line to have ADSL?

Or is there only one ISP per area and they own the fibre and provide the service? In other words is each area tied to a specific provider.

Our pavements are being dug up and there are Hauwei vehlcles all over the place is there a way to find which provider will be active in the area?

TIA

So Telkom is installing fibre in your area (or rather operweb, openserve or whatever they call themselves these days)

You can then choose any ISP that operates over their network, to get the fibre. Most ISP's are available on the telkom network. So you can stay with your current ISP if they offer fibre.

There is not just one ISP per area.

The ISP rent from Telkom, and pay IPC costs
