Interesting that the contract makes no provision for arranging the debit order on the subscriber's behalf.
 
Who signs in the "who warrants that he is duly authorized to sign" spot?
 
I Have just one question.

I see that the blocks next to the month-to-month shows R3600 for all lines. does this mean all packages now require construction fee of R3600? unless I take a 12month contract? I was under the impression that the basic free package's construction fee is R3600 then free internet and the 10/10 is R1500 and then R800pm.

What does the usual run of the mill router offer ... 20 megabit on VDSL? If you go up to a gigabit package will you need to buy another router?

The owner of the property. if you rephraze it it sounds like this. "He who gives permission that he has received permission to sign"

for example. if you stay at the house but it is not your house the owner must sign along with you
 
J normal routers can do 10/100mb. You would need a gigabit router for higher speeds.

From what I understood if you cancel service before the total construction fee is paid you are liable for the whole R3600 fee, but they'll have to clarify this.

What I don't understand is why we always have to sign lengthy contracts upfront before other fees are waived. Why can't we get month to month and then if we keep it for 24 months the construction fee gets waived in the last months' payments? Telkom's contracts are much more reasonable in that regard in that they are only for the device and that you can still cancel the service any time and only pay for the device.

Hey JvD, yoir post reminded me of this section in the contract. Will probably be fine.

18.1. The Subscriber agrees that the existence and contents of this Agreement, together with the contents of all schedules, annexures and terms and conditions thereto are, for the purposes of this clause, deemed to be Confidential Information.

18.2.4. Not make any Announcement or issue press releases about the Agreement or the transactions related to it without the approval of the other Party.
 
18.2.4 sounds a bit cloak and "daggerish" ... maybe a 123NET representative can explain what this means for the consumer?
 
I think the purpose of 18.2.4 is just to prevent the media from distributing information that they havnt agreed to with 123NET and isnt applicable to an individual, in that an announcement is rarely made by an individual unless you are the mayor (who am I kinding - South African mayors are never heard or seen unless there are freebees to be had) but lets hear what 123NET says

Agreed. I have no issue paying the R1500 upfront then R800 for the service.. but the way the blocks are alligned seems to request R3600 for the construction and then RXXX for the service regardless of package if you want month to month. which costs more in the end.

In which case I would then rather take the 10mb without gigabit for R450 for 12 months seeing as it would be more cost effective R5400 per year + R1500 Construction fee

4.3 Any change to the pricing of the Service is subject to prior written agreement between the parties of at least 1 (one)calendar month prior to the effective date of such change. In the event that no agreement can be reached in thisregard then 123Net reserves the right to unilaterally increase it pricing by an amount in line with reasonable industrystandards, alternatively the Subscriber is entitled to provide 30 (thirty) Days written notice of its intention to terminatethis Agreement.

February has 28 days...

5.2. The Subscriber acknowledges that installation is subject to the prior payment of the construction fee corresponding to the Service chosen by the Subscriber.

Prior = Before a time or event

Am I reading this right?
