My friend got his fibre activated Friday morning.

Router is TP Archer C5. His line is 200/200. He was getting only 100mb.

Phoned the ISP and they adjusted the throttling and he got his 200/200.

But after 6 hours the cable speed was back at 100 but when he does a speed test from his laptop wirelessly it goes to 200.

When we plug in a cable at the back of the motherboard and the lappy the lights flash on and off couple of times.

Could this be router or ONT or cables?
Cables says Cat6e on it but outer casing is very soft.

Phoned ISP and they say line is syncing at 200.

Im stumped.

@DamduikerZA

Router allows autosync of

4 10/100/1000Mbps LAN Ports
1 10/100/1000Mbps WAN Port
2 USB 2.0 Ports

Maybe check the lan cable is cat5e or cat6, else try a different lan cable or recrimp if its not a premade cable

Is his lan port on his pc a Gigabit port or 100mb?

and if he plugs directly into the ont to test? might need to create a pppoe connection on the laptop etc..

Check the LAN interface on the Laptop, and also verify what the MTU settings are in the OS.
