Fibrehoods

I'm busy picking a company for fibre in a complex and fibrehoods seems sub par. Barely any response to emails or calls but we did get a survey done and it's very catchy. So the installation is free according to the plan but they want to hang the fibre to the walls and no mention of ONT installation.
Just hanging the fibre outside in the open makes me wonder how long will it last?
Also, I heard people are having problems with reliability and someone mentioned frequent disconnects on fibrehoods network with mweb as ISP.

I kind of agree about the installation, it's above ground and the cable is fed through trees. I'm sure in a few years time it's going to become and issue.

I can only say good things about Fibrehoods but I'm in a complex so we might have received better/faster service because of that. We also paid nothing for the installation. Fibre to the complex and splicing to the units was all free but that might be because of being a complex again.

Line has also been 100% up since installing, not sure about during the day in the week. Have had the line since early Jan.

I assume having fibre rolling out almost everywhere is going to make companies sit-up and take notice. Hopefully good things will happen....like a local Blizz server :)

Yeap has been happening in a big way the last year, Netflix, Google, Microsoft and now Facebook have CDNs in country, through NAP peering. So they are coming :).

Can speak as an ISP that fibrehoods links have been as reliable as sunken fibre, remember also that Vumatel now has taken over with a much larger team and fund to support it. From the Mweb perspective I cant comment.

Wow...

Just got home and fibre line is down....I blame you zeck

haha sorry to hear!

I'm also in a complex and fibrehoods offered a really quick deployment of up to 3 weeks from agreement but I'm hearing mixed reports from users about the reliability.

So, called iConnect Friday afternoon at about 5pm to ask them about the line. They confirmed there was a line break somewhere which occurred at about 1pm. They logged the call with Fibrehoods and I was told that someone should be out on the weekend or Monday, no one came out on the weekend....no internet over a weekend is not fun...

Called Fibrehoods now and they confirmed there is a call logged for me and that someone would call me....no time could be given though...

Update:
And so my respect for Fibrehoods slides...
iConnect called me back to give me an update. +1 for calling me back. -10 for pointless feedback. Based on the feedback, seems like they can just highlight that a customer is internetless. Called Fibrehoods again - was transferred to Britelink who then logged a call for me (?!?!?!?!). They advised that someone will be out today....vented some anger...was then promised that tech would be out later this afternoon.

Starting to miss my CellC 3G connection...
