Well, he sat there with a smile whilst denying he stole any money, knowing full well he literally starved and stole from pensioners. Of course i see the humour innit. My father, was taken for all he had by a smooth talking "white collar crime" operator. No one came to his defense, and the guy got a suspended sentence. Without making ANY comment regarding the Rape itself... I think that humans are firstly animals who have as their primary drives agression and fear. Humans have the CAPACITY for kindness and civility but take them out of their comfort zone and you will see kindness and civility disappear.

marine1, yes, the law should deal with him. But you must admit that the law fails us more often than it serves us, and you can't blame people for wishing the fleas of a thousand camels on him.

I believe the punishment should fit the crime. This man didn't just steal from one man or some faceless company. He single handedly destroyed several thousand people's livelihoods and futures. Because of him families will go hungry and people will die because they can now now afford the basic health care that might otherwise have.

If he pays back every penny he stole, I would concede that a life prison sentence, even parole after 20 or so years if he behaves, is fair punishment. But for leaving a large chunk of the S.A. population in such a dire position, he deserves to be shot. The S.A. tax payer, the very people who he deprived of a peaceful retirement, should not have fund the rest of his existence.

You know, not much difference as far as I'm concerned. I did a lot of work in a maximum security prison. You know, where they keep the rapists and murderers. Dude, boys boarding school was tighter and more restrictive. Well behaving inmates sleep in dorms, the doors of which aren't locked. They have TV, computers, internet, a library that lays waste to my high school's pretty impressive library, activities like sports and choir. Yes! Choir! With public concerts!

No wonder these people have no fear of the law - being found guilty and sentenced to jail is a ticket to easy life. What's a few sexual favours if you can live in relative comfort at the taxpayer's cost?
