FIFA 2010 Phase 1 Tickets Application

Anybody else got feedback about their second phase application. I wasn't successful with my two.:( So its trying again for phase 3 and the lucky draw for me.

you can still apply for phase 2. just try higher categories and lesser known cities e.g. polokwane category 3.

Only interested in Pretoria games, I have 4 from the first phase. Its a bit too expensive for me going anything but category 4 but I will see.

this is getting old real quick, just checked my application on the fifa website and once again I didn't get any tickets.

Got tickets for two round of 16 games :D

Been trying to apply for more for the past 3 hours but keep getting the stupid "Unfortuunately due to high traffic we cannot process your request"

got a QF and 2 R16 games in Johannesburg. Missed out on Pretoria (R16).

Yay! All 18 tickets for 5 different games was approved! :D

Now to get some final tickets... :p It's the price that bothers me though! :(

I tried to purchase 2 England specific team tickets during phase 1, all 7 games, tier 1 for close on R50k and was rejected. Tried during phase 2 twice now and have been rejected. Went in to FNB who called FIFA and they told me that all England specific team tickets were sold out within the first few days of ticket sales. WTF!!?? So I tried to apply for them individually - turns out that's not possible.

This entire process is completely fscked - they give no explanations for rejecting applications, have no transparency regarding availability of tickets and make you wait weeks to hear a response. It's pathetic actually...

Didn't even know you could choose your team and tickets for games with them? How can it be sold out? All the matches are still available though? I got tickets for games in group B, C, D , G and H, what if England is in one of those groups?

The ID Numeber thing is still going to cause a lot of confusion as well, on the day, I just typed in my family members ID numbers! What if my mom doesn't want to watch all the games I've booked?

Yip, just select team specific tickets at the start of the process.

What I don't understand is why they made the applications so bloody confusing? Why not just allow a person to select the games, then category, then pay? Instead, one must select the stadium, group, category etc. It's a joke...

Ouch - they're non-transferable. The ID number used for booking must be the ID number of the person attending the game afaik. And they will only change it under specific conditions, which I assume amount to death and disability...

Fifa sended me the same email again today. Kind of weird. When are they going to debit my account?

Yeah, I was wondering the exact same thing?

Checked the website and it says:

Application payment pending.

Do they wait to see if you got more tickets or what?

I called the call centre and they said by Friday the money should either be debited or I'll receive an email telling me how to pay.

Well think about it guys. They start selling the tickets when all we know is that the host country has qualified. We don’t know where any of the teams will be based (though one can make the determination that the SA will likely be based in Joburg – Soccer City).

Was one able to get Category 4 Tickets to follow a specific team other than South Africa?

That will not be cool! What if my girlfriend and I'm not together by that time or something similar to that.

Did the Confed tickets also work on a ID number application? Then we can see how that is going to work...:(

Cool, thanks milomak! :)

I know for a fact that Brazil will be based in Nelspruit. But where they will play, cvertainly not all the games in Nelspruit... :(

Don't worry about the ID number thing - they've had it for previous WCs (and are in use at certain clubs and in competitions like the Champions' League) - they don't have people at the gate scanning your ticket and ID/passport, and I don't think FIFA will start that now.

The real "anti-black market" thing FIFA have going is that the applicant HAS to be in SA to pick up the tickets.

One of my friends works at the Mombombela municipality and according to him, 2 representatives of Nelspruit went over to Brazil earlier this year to finalize everything. So according to him, Brazil is going to be based in Nelspruit. :)

Sounds like bollocks to me. The draw is done randomly by FIFA, no participating country has a say in where they're based accept perhaps the home country. Each group is linked to different stadiums beforehand, you'll only know at the draw which teams are in which groups.

Plus the South American qualification hasn't even ended yet?

Plus, out of Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Bloemfontein, Polokwane, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Polokwane why on earth whould they pick Nelspruit? The biggest national team in the world in terms of support picks Nelspruit?:p

Plus it's spelt Mbombela
