I don't think Trump is going to risk appearing at a game unless the USA makes the final. His supporters are generally fans of sports like Nascar, UFC wrestling etc.

Trump is correct. Fifa should have an appeal process as standard, especially for red cards and it is stupid that they don't.

So you end up with bad decisions like refs don't want to ruin the tournament and card Messi so he freely gets to kick other players.

A referee mistake should not potentially cost a team the next game. Especially with all the technology avaliable.

They have it for league football. All cards are reviewed after a match. Clubs are allowed to appeal. Not sure why it shouldn't extend to international football.

They have an appeal process. Bafana appealed Zwane's red card and failed.

Yes. I just assumed it was standard by now. But apparently the appeal process at the biggest tournament now depends on if you are important enough.

Ronaldo got his suspension suspended so he can play all world cup games. Doing for the USA player aswell is consistent.

Yup, no appeal process, the problem is that FIFA now seems to have made an exception for one team irrespective of the fairness of the original sanction. In hindsight, it does seem daft that something as potentially tournament altering as a one match ban can't be reviewed for fairness.

The problem is, what happens when the next player is red-carded?.

Belgium's appeal against the decision has been dismissed.

The Fifa appeal committee deemed Belgium are not an interested party as they were not involved in the original decision and are merely the United States' next opponents.

"The request was rendered inadmissible on the grounds that the Belgian FA is not a party to the proceedings and, as such, has no standing to appeal the decision," said Fifa in a statement.

This means Balogun will be free to play against Belgium because there is no party who would appeal against the decision.
