Financial Mistakes

A R50k vehicle finance that turned into an R80k debt, I already had R10k at the time so I should have been a little more patient and saved up, but at least I still had a presence of mind not to have bought a more expensive car.

Credit card, I thought I was in control until it turned out I wasn't, I ended up living on overdraft for a couple of years, thankfully I got some regular bonuses and finally broke even after what seems like forever, I was so relieved to finally see my account not in the negative even when I was broke, took me a while to maintain a good positive balance.

I wasn't really wasteful but it was very easy to get into a bad financial situation, I just don't understand how wasteful people cope, thankfully that's all in the past now.

This guy sits at his kitchen table one evening with a beer in hand and sobbs.

His caring Wife comes in and asks what is the matter, Taking a big Gulp he starts:
"Remember 25 Years ago when we were young and and your dad caught us Shagging. He sat down with me afterwards and made me an offer to marry you."

The Wife chips in and says, Yes and it has been a wonderful 25 years of marriage. we have two beautiful kids and a lovely life together.

The man said his father in Law gave him the Choice of Marriage or Life in Prison and that he would have been a free man today...

Didn't want to go into debt for my honey business and sold my paid up 135i convertible and couldn't keep taking my wife's range rover into the mountains to check on the hives.

Drove it for a week and it's been standing like this for 8 months now. At this point I just want to sell it as is.

I know it is slightly OT but do tell more please.

The Disco 3 is notorious as being immensely wallet draining as nice as they are. Your one sounds like a true horror show.

PS: Suspension looks to be in it’s chops.

It's air suspension and its set low when we parked it.

With the ignition on it raises up.

Was driving home on the N2 to Somerset West. Car started feeling sluggish, black smoke coming from the back, pulled over, no over heating, engine switched off and still smoking a lot. Towed it home and it's been standing there ever since.

The engine swings but doesn't start. I was planning to spend money on it but not in the first month of buying it.

I either drop another R30k to fix it if it can be fixed for R30k or sell it as is and then get me a 3 year old Toyota Hilux 4x4.
 
Selling Naspers shares just before it skyrocketed with Tencent investment.

Think it was 2010.
 
Doing business or rather investing in Liberty & Momentum. What a dumb mistake!

THIS! Liberty must surely be the worst! I worked for a company for 13 years and the RA I got (it was transferred to another provider so not taxed) was less than R350k...since then it has grown substantially.
