Fired for racist Facebook remarks

I never said your called them colonialists. Nor did you specifically say I refer to blacks as savages but you asked why English-speakers do it. I countered by asking why blacks do it. If you don't, then good for you, but many do. Again pointing out those double standards that exist.

By the way, if a black person is acting in an uncivilised manner I may call them a savage. Likewise if a white person is acting uncivilised. No discrimination from me. If you're a c*nt, you're a c*nt, forget your race.

I'm still waiting for you to call that Ikeys rugby player who assaulted a girl at the Wimpy in Potch "a savage".

Yes, if she's stupid enough to air her racist views on a social network she should be fired from her job. The same thing would happen to me if I referred to Indians in a derogatory way on Facebook/Twitter. There's absolutely no excuse. This woman is not a child, she knew exactly what she was doing when she vented her racist bile. If she feels confident that she was unfairly victimized she can fight her case at the CCMA, or the Labour Court if she gets no relief from the former.

I totally disagree. There could be many other ways to deal with this. It's not fair to ruin someone's life for something as stupid as this. You seem to be personally insulted by her post as well :wtf:

It's starting to look like black folk are just waiting for someone to make this mistake and then bask in the glory of the consequences this person faces.

Oh, so now I've been appointed the spokesman for black people/politicians. GTFOH!!

It's referred to as a discussion. Not a soliloquy. You put forward a concern of yours regarding "English speaking people" (which is an interesting description anyway, and revealing of your thought process, as someone from any race can be English speaking), I countered asking about the term colonialists and the reference to all whites as slave drivers years after this no longer exists.

If you want to take a stand on an issue then be prepared to field counter arguments. By putting it out there you became spokesperson. Don't run and hide now. At least concede that both are equally insulting and we'll be getting somewhere.

I'm not personally insulted. I feel fukk all for taxi drivers who act like idiots on our roads. There's no schadenfreude on my side, losing a job is not cool but like I said, she's an adult, she made an adult decision with her racist response.
Would she have the courage to say that about Jews/Muslims the next time she was angered?

Um, not aware of it at all, and not sure how that is relevant, but if it makes you feel better then ok...

That Ikeys player who assaulted the girl in wimpy is a real savage.

Happy now?

Yet you think it was appropriate for her to get fired over a word on social media?

Are you reverting back to the original meaning of the word as non-believer now?

On that note, would she be within her rights to refer to the taxi driver as a k*ffir if he were in fact a non-believer?

Taking such offence to a mere word is truly ridiculous. A gay many years back was a happy person. Now referring to someone as such may get you hit. Ludicrous.

No, I don't. Ericsson South Africa says it doesn't want anything to do with her. Like I said, she can call her lawyers and battle it out with her employer.

What now? From your earlier opinion regarding this matter, you make it perfectly clear that she got what she deserved?

Happy For Dayz!!!

I must ask then, if it was a black taxi driver who hit a woman's car and drove off, and I referred to them as a savage, would you be as happy?

Thanks for demonstrating those double standards we have been referring to.

No. In all likelihood said taxi driver is the staunchest Christian and belongs to the Zion Christian Church. And besides in the context of South Africa we know exactly what the k-word means. This is not the Middle East so I doubt she was referring to him as a non-believer.

There's absolutely no justification for hitting a pretty girl. None whatsoever. I'll take a cheapshot from her any day.

And an ugly girl? I'm sad to say your bias on a number of topics are becoming all too apparent in this thread. Not a pretty sight.

So why did you bring Jews and Muslims into the discussion?

I don't know, I guess...but if she was a Muslim (the lady who got 'fired') then it's likely she would get pat a the back for expressing her religious identity. Just something interesting.
