Firefox drops Google as default search provider

Most of us have one...and only one. Sometimes a few of us get lucky and have TWO at a time, but as good as it sounds it's just too difficult to maintain two, at the same time.
Too many conflicts.. one will ask to be the main one, you say "yes" and when you go to the other one, that one will want to be the "primary" one!

Then there is people like you who are only satisfied with three, and nothing less. Most of us couldn't even handle that amount of button pressing and wheel flicking in a scenario like that, it just ain't practical. Not for one man. 3 requires just too much Ram Power, and a lot of virtual swapping per session.

I'm guessing there is some freak here who probably likes to have 4 at a time, but that's just crazy talk.
No man can sustain that kind of cache requirements - and even if you could, your cache would run out very quickly.
Sure you get cookies like crazy, and yes the plug-in possibilities are endless - but it just ain't worth it. Unless you have a big hard drive of course.

What?

I use Opera, Firefox and Chrome on a daily basis at work.

Much easier to separate different logins and work types.

Home it's Firefox and Chrome.

As much as I prefer Chrome, it has a way of always "decaying" over time. You slowly lose functionality until you have to format the machine. At the moment I can't open google in chrome at work. The network Nazi is breaking my balls over there. I'm forced to use Firefox atm :(

You format the machine because chrome is slow? WTF? :wtf:

If I remember correctly, Google sponsors Mozilla Foundation with funding. .

It's in the article.

Google previously served as the default search option for users of the Firefox Web browser on an international basis. With Google’s three-year deal coming to an end, Mozilla has struck deals with several search engines in different regions, including Baidu Inc in China and Yandex NV in Russia.

Yahoo may have made them a better offer.

I use both Chrome and Firefox, predominantly Chrome but I really don't see any noticeable speed difference. Only annoying thing with Firefox now is that there is this weird display bug on Mac OS with the alignment of the selection on menus.

I've never liked Chrome, just don't like the interface. I've always felt more comfortable with the menu bar at the top of my screen, and not needing to sign in to my browser for full functionality.

May sound strange, but it just feels like I have a bit more control in Firefox than with Chrome.

I use chrome mostly, and firefox developer edition for other crap.

I use FF when Chrome breaks, then Chrome when FF breaks. Then if both break I use W3M or lynx in the terminal.

Was bound to happen soon. Google and the OSS world have been at increasing odds over the last few years

Firefox Rocks! for when the mybb code generator won't pop up in chrome

Was a Firefox fanboy for a very long time. Then when I upgraded my ADSL router Firefox kept hanging on the web interface. So I tried Chrome again (which didn't hang). Have since switched over to Chrome on all my PC's and haven't looked back. More than enough Chrome extensions to keep me happy. And to me Chrome feels faster than Firefox.

Why? For some of us, it's a job requirement.

What kind of job let's you have three at the same time? Wow, you're a lucky guy.

Unfortunately I don't have the cache to have that many...
And even if I had a lot more Ram power, I wouldn't be able to sustain it for long. Not with 3 at the same time.

Unless If I "overclock" - sure, juicing your system with give you extra performance for a while, but it also makes things get too hot and suddenly everything needs to be soaked in oil.
I have an old motherboard in any case, which will freak out at the first sight of this kind of stuff. Just not worth the risk!

Having too many also introduces the possibility of you getting a virus. No thanks.

Chrome I find is much better. Love how it syncs my bookmarks and history between devices and the new device developer tools, very handy!
