Firefox gaining ground

I Agree with SlappY. For the most part all these articles on FF are factless, pointless and plain boring.

Browser wars are boring. Lets get something worthwhile to fight about.

But just to add my 5c

How the hell do you guys get stats on corporate intranet browser usage ? A thumbsuck at best, as is reflected in the other stats.

Personaly I don't know anybody that uses FF. A friend tried it once and vowed never to repeat his mistake. I tried it for 5 minutes and after i saw how much bandwidth this hog was stealing, I gave it the good old wipe without bothering to configure it properly.

I'll venture that your average FF user is someone who re-loads his entire operating system on a monthly basis because they like to load any old piece of software on thier machines whether they need to or not.

Uhhm....how, between waking up in the morning and walking out of the front door, do you manage not to kill yourself on all the dangerous objects in and around the house?

HBee, pay these lot little heed. They cant handle the fact that someone has a different opinion to them. They get all catty. They are the types that are so pathetic they seem to think a web browser defines their personality, and any denouncement of it is an attack on them personally.

When looking at these stats one must bare in mind the type of audiance a website attracts.

...
I'd like to be able to look at some kind of compilation of the stats from a mix of differant types of websites, but have yet to come across one like it.

A fair point.

One of my sites: general news, roughly even split between local and int'l visitors, about 2.5 mil pageviews pm:

IE (all versions) 80.5% (IE7 - 53.6%, IE6 - 46.2% of that 80%)
FF 14.8%
Safari 3.1%
Opera 1.1%

Operating systems, since you didn't ask:
Windows 93.8% (Vista only 12% of that total)
MacOS 4.3%
Linux 0.9%

Love the FF add-ons! How about a poll to see how many mybroadband users prefer FF over IE:sick:?

We don't really need a poll. Why would someone browse here using a browser* they do not like?

(I have called IE a browser for the purposes of this post - although it barely qualifies as such)

sheesh you guys way catty! Some like FF and some don't same with IE , now deal with that! i use FF mainly cause i like the way it works and the style and got some good addons. IE get used for some strange reason too.

IE gets used for two reasons:
People do not know better
****ty company policy forces it down people's throats.

actually, it does not have so much to do with opinion than with the fact that IE sucks donkey balls. Simple Mechanics (I mean programming). :D
