Firing a broadside

brilliant! only one thing though....can i get coverage for something of theirs...like now!!

Month-to-Month rollover

I do not want to guess how much petrol I'll use in a month and as a result I pay for that. I want whatever is left over in my tank to still be there the next morning after month-end.

Same with broadband.

Unless I use the unlimited product, but then the price is too high.

Second issue I have is the speed. Anything less than 4Mbps is just too time consuming. But even that is too slow compared with what is available internationally.

So here's a thought. Neotel, bring a fast product, and either let me roll-over what I don't use--and provide and automatic top-up, or make an unlimited product available, both these products at, at least 50% lower than what you currently charge.

Whoever provides above product/s will be a winner for the following; they'll have created a product I and [most probably most Internet users want] and they'll have brought the costs to their clients down considerably. And likely made money for themselves. And they'll cause other providers to follow. Effectively creating a healthier telecoms market in SA.

What is the speed of the prime package, in the real world that is? I just heard the other day that the max speed in the Durban area is 1 Mps.... can anyone confirm if this is true, that has the Prime package?

While Neotel wouldn't give any details about the pricing of its new device's services, the fees it's been offering for its Neoconnect Prime (the original data offering) service could set off a price war in SA's data market. Neotel offers a 2,5GB cap service for R399, a 5GB package for R499, a 10GB for R599, a 15GB for R699 and an unlimited service for R999/month.

This paragraph is misleading. It concerns the pricing of the new device. The Unlimited R999 offering is not available on the new router. Which sucks monkey's balls imho :(
When I phoned and enquired about the pricing and the availability of the unlimited package on it the service rep informed me that since the new device can connect multiple pc's to the internet that a group of users could utilise the network so much that it would not disadvantageous to them...

Wonder what stops me from using the current device in ics and sharing it over the network ... still. :/

+1. I would simply pop it into an IPCop server (that is, if they allowed it to work in Linux :p) and distribute away...

You should've told them the max download speed doesn't increase as you add more pcs.

If it did I'd build about ten pcs and get a 20mb dl speed. :)

sigh....

anyone knows which company is contracted to do the Public relations for neotel?

Has anyone got coverage around Gateway in Umhlanga Ridge? It doesn't say there is on their coverage map, however they more then happy to slap their ads on all the street polls saying "get Neotel today..." everywhere.

For heavy Internet users, the implication is that once Neotel releases its router there will be few reasons to use anything else.
Latency? I think that is one very big reason to not go for the router. Also speed seems to be an issue still. Not going to replace my sometimes 4Mb line for a sometimes 1Mb wireless connection.

I also mailed them for a quote to provide our complex with fibre, but they are not interested in even replying to emails.

This router does still not address one of Neotels most basic residential problems in that you have to disconnect from the internet every time you want to make a call (which has a much jitter on it as iBursts) and visa versa.

If Telkom dropped the line rental portion of their adsl they would be back in the game. I dont mind paying R200 for adsl with a 1GB cap. I do mind the extra R130 a month for something I dont use.
