Firmware etc...

ProAsm - is there any way to force this ? Have tried everything else, resetting, firmware, blocking signal for tower search etc.

Keeps trying to connect to dud tower that does not allow it to connect.

Connecting to Mintek 12 - freq 2518000 - 0 to 120 sector.

Even though the client is in Fourways - Craigavon Agricultural Holdings .............

Can this be fixed ?

Package :256

Comments : Dang !

Pass the whiskey please! I need to dunk my Pringles ....

At the moment it will try and connect to the stongest signal which I agree is pretty dumb but thats what it does.
The best you can do is try and shield that Tower from the modem, try a pringles [:)]

This is a repeat of what I put in the General Section:

In my attempt to see if i could improve packet losses, I decided to up grade to firmware 4.2.1.8.

I don't know if it is related, but since then, my screen just freezes for about 60 secs everytime I try and open something.

Operating on win2k

Anyone else upgraded and had the same problem? And do you have a solution

After clearing out almost my whole system and still the freeze, I eventually decided to go back to version 4.2.1.1, and so far so good, no more freeze. I even replaced all my RAM.

Pings are also reasonably good, but sad to say. speed is still the pits

yeah I am on it...

has it improved the service? NO

before the firmaware I was getting a 4K average... after the firmware ----- 4K

firmware aint neccessarily a bad thing and remember thank God its not made by Sentech cuz that would be a farking disaster

Yep, I've upped mine. So far:
-at home: (midway 'tween Randburg and Hyde Park)- modem now *definitely* wants to sign on to HP where before (on 4.2.1.8) RDB was a far better tower to me. I've lost a little bit of signal strength (now down to something like 36%sig/71%ber/16%snl) so I figure I can let it go!
-out in the field: early days yet, but I'm driving around to various sites and watching (modem) tower-lock times and signal strengths but it's looking good. Still got lots of driving around and testing to do tho'!

Oh, Robone- I always found 4.2.1.8 to be THE stable version to use before this one, maybe consider that.

HA HA HA....

want a step by step method to improve pings on Sentech

step1.
get hammer
step2.
smash your modem
step3.
get a ole modem (28K will do)

ping www.sentech.co.za

better pings then MW

Anyone else upgraded to the new 5.0.1.66c revision firmware yet?
With this, I'm now able to get ping times of 80ms.

Edit : Wooha ... make that an all time low of 71ms

50.0.1.62 suffered from disconnections if your signal fluctuated below 7%
This was corrected in 50.0.1.65 but was never released.
50.0.1.66c will give you improved pings and better stability and looks to be the new stable version.
Currently the most stable version is 50.0.1.60

I can confirm that 5.0.1.66c is VERY stable and provides superior ping times.
An interesting side-effect is that my modem now never seems to get hot ???
Boot-up time takes a little longer.

Edit: My Ping times to Sentech/IS have improved by 15-20%
Have managed to see some as low as 72ms

Is that linked to tower software upgrade like the ver 4/5 thing ? When you say superior pings, example old/new ? Are we talking improved latency ? That might get me to plug it back on USB and do the upgrade.

btw ProAsm, that jpg on your MyWi page....it's not that bad anymore :D

/Edit : Thnx dbnnet, for the ping update in your post. Are you trying to keep the post count down :D
