Just watched Click, they showed FishText.com - pretty cool. 20c per SMS message, and can be sent from cell phone.

Better than 80c. Credit never expires.

My understanding from their website is that replies go to a virtual UK mobile number and not directly to your cellphone?

Just sent a test message to my wife's cell from the app on my phone. SMS arrived as from my normal cell number, hit reply, and I got the SMS reply to my cell. After you send the SMS ffrom the App you get the delivery confirmation and the cost associated to the destination.

Obviously your data plan is used, but what ~200 bytes is nothing.

Just tried this out as well and it arrived from my real VC number. Would be nice if they had a lighter / mobile version of the web site for on phone browsers (my phone doesnt have Java support). For 20c / msg to VC (less to others) this seems quite good. Be interesting to hear other people's comments if you try it out (you get 0.30 Euros free to try it)

Would be nice to have a mobile version of the site as you say! Perhaps send them an email? It's a commercial site, they should be very open to any revenue generating ideas.

Already sent them a comment suggesting a m.fishtext.com mobile friendly site, will let you know back. If it had that I would definitely use their service.

South Africa
Cell C (Pty) Ltd (Cell C) | 0.0150
MTN - Mobile Telephone Networks (Pty) Ltd. (MTN - Mobile Telephone Network) | 0.0150
Vodacom Group Pty Ltd. (VodaCom) 0.020

Prices in Euro, thats according to their website anyway. I've not tested to a CellC number though.

I wonder how it handles ported numbers. My wife is an 084 number but ported to Vodacom network. I just did the Coverage and Pricing check on their site with her number and it allocated it as a CellC number, which technically is incorrect.

Don't complain! It's cheaper to CellC than to Vodacom.
