Flat rated mobile broadband

No, it's not feasible, but one reason and one reason only: Corporate Greed.

Vodacom, MTN and iBurst have got South African consumers over the barrell and they sure as hell are not going to lower costs or increase caps. Why should they? Where else are you going to go if you have no access to ADSL?

More corporate waffle. How is it an article gets published everytime someone with a fancy title comments on something that doesn't exist? Where do I sign up to get paid for stating the obvious?

couldn't they just do a network share based on usage of station as a model? So that the more users at a station the less the base station will let you leech kinda like a priority based proxy which pushes web pages out fast and slows or kicks downloads when under pressure.

Mr Pieter Uys always has lots to say in terms of justifying costs.
We were also awaiting numerous answers in the Vodacom threads about future pricing, which remained unanswered until now....[Im not accepting a free 200mb's for my R390]

His argument is flawed as Neotel can silence the pricing excuse and still be profitable.
Congestion?
Why not introduce a cybersmart nightrider system?
Why not do something, as Seacom's arrival is obviously riddling him with guilt and in terms of weak offerings.
Vodacom never seem to lead and always follow action from competitors reduced rates.
And to think i thought they would do the right thing by acting as South Africans leading cellular network....

Tell you what Vodacom. While you keep us bandwidth starved,i will be voting with my monthly R390 in October when Neotel give me coverage.
Or ASDL becomes cheaper in the 'near' future.
Surely you [Vodacom] , would like to try and retain your bragging rights with over a million 'broadband' subscribers.

Makes me mad to be reduced to disabling images as my microscopic 2 gig bundle rapidly vanishes!

Vodacom CEO Pieter Uys confirmed Hahn’s statement when he recently said that it is simply not possible for a mobile data provider to compete against fixed line services with high usage cost models.

Yep, I think that pretty much puts paid to Vodacom's claim of being South Africa's "leading" broadband provider.

I found this part of that response the most humorous.

Did Neotel tell you that you would have cover in October? If so then good luck, they don't exactly have an amazing track record when it comes to rolling out on time.

That and until someone else starts providing ADSL in opposition to Talkom, it isn't going to get cheaper.

That is what they told me, whether i believe it or not is inconsequential.

The Neotel van regularly parks in my street[don't know why] and every time i ask him if October is still on the cards to which he replies yes.
Its all about accountability.

Its the only cracker i have for Vodacom to move to decent competition.
I cannot keep paying Vodacom without feeling cheated.:(

Any suggestions on that?
I must admit that services and cost suck :sick:compared to what it is in the US or UK.
