Flexing its muscle

I am through hating Telkom and waiting for Neotel!! I will go with the cheapest option that is really working for me. With the emphasis on the LEAST exspensive. Sorry Neotel and all other providers at this stage itsTelkom

agreed, if they are cheaper enough to justify buying a new modem and going through the hassle of cancelling contracts, connecting etc, ill change over form telkom, but it must be a significant difference in price

I'll pay R800 easily for unlimited downloads. Even sign a stupid 2 year contract, whatever.

No one cares about that, only snotnose kids that play too much games.

You should care about it. Latency is also a good indicator of the quality of the network. Low latency impacts everything, including VoIP, VOD, etc.

My voip is excellent and I use 3G or Fixed Wireless.

My VPN and Skype video works fine over 3G or Fixed Wireless.

You are an oddity indeed :D

I install 3G cards for VPN almost everyday and I have been doing so for almost 2 years. VPN Latency of 800+ms (international) doesn't make remote support a pleasant experience. I have sales reps complaining almost on a daily basis about how slow everything is and I have to bare all the burden of their complaints as though it were my fault. (I am not talking about transfer speeds I am referring to opening links etc..). Granted this is what our company uses but any better latency comparible to ADSL would of course help and the mixed reviews on this is not making it any easier to decide.

I am also a gamer and my money goes to the best service. Hell my father is a gamer as well. So is my brother-in-law. All of us play online from time to time. I am sick of Telkom. We all are. Do I not deserve the right to ask about a part of the service that affects me and probably thousands of others? Snot nosed kid? hardly  just upset that people always concern themselves with only what is important to them without any consideration :(

ive been using vpn to germany and my latency is 250-300 ping using mtn. VIOP / Ventrillo worked fine here as well

Expect latency to be <=3g/hsdpa in milliseconds.
But not that much better.

So in other words local feels like a snappy intl. circuit and intl. feels like a slow local circuit.

hope that helps :)
