Well this is pretty funny.

A letter that was posted to say sorry to all the customers who bought tickets at FlySafair was posted on their website in a Word document.

If you click on the properties of the document you can see they used a pirated MS Office to create the document.

Download file here:
http://www.flysafair.co.za/data/FlySafair-Court-Letter-Customer-08102013.doc

Select Properties on doc file > Detail > See Company name is Grizli777 (Popular warez supplier)

if you google the name of the 'last saved by" in that screenshot you get to the owner of a PR company so it looks like it's the PR company doing the pirating not FlySafair

sigh, non techs are so unaware of the digital breadcrumbs they leave all over

Yup, they would have sent that via a PR company. Naughty PR Worx.

Ironic how this is awful PR for them now...:D

Not only non techs. I major lawsuit by 1 tech company against another a few years ago suffered a major blow to their credibility when they left revisions on in the word documents they submitted to the court which effectively crippled their case.

I think it was SCO vs IBM I think. Novell were involved in that case somehow also.

Nice find!

Grabs some wonderful saltless popcorn (i like it this way) :D.

Nice find too, hope they get whats coming to them. Maybe a free XbONE if you ask nicely ;-)

Original Microsoft Office - PR Worx.pngHi Mybroadband

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, we were not aware of this issue on the document. PR Worx has and will never make use of pirated software. In fact, we would welcome anyone from Microsoft to come through and check all our computer and laptop licenses to verify that we are 100% compliant in this regard.

Aside for the legal implications of using pirated software, there are also ethical issues which we would never embroil ourselves in. In fact, I’ve attached a screen grab of the Word document created on my computer versus the Word document that was created by Luca, the supplier of the artwork, who has no affiliation to PR Worx. (This can be seen under the ‘Authors’ tab)

It is clear that the problem lies on Luca’s computer and not mine. He has been made aware of the issue but should you need any further information, please feel free to contact me and I will gladly provide you with his contact details.

Again, thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Sincerely
Madelain Roscher

Hi there

Please have a look at the response below, neither PR Worx nor FlySafair use pirated software.

Thanks
Madelain

Hi AfricanTech

Please be very careful who you blame for illegal activities as neither PR Worx nor FlySafair use pirated software.

I trust my update below clarifies the matter.

This would only be awful PR for us, if we were actually guilty of using pirated software. In case you don't read the update below, neither PR Worx nor FlySafair use pirated software.

Your screenshot is too small to make out any detail. Please post a larger one.

LOL@FAIL!

Damn! How dare I use such mxit speak. I will be away now to hang my head in shame. Luca has received the buck that has been passed. Who is Luca? I know she lives upstairs but that is about all.

On the second floor upstairs from you....

Streisand effect incoming

I was thinking the same thing.

Madelain, it can be entirely possible that you bought pirated software unknowingly. I see that you are a bit new to forums. Maybe we can help you?

Create a document in Word, write a couple of words then save it and upload it to the forum. We can then inspect the file and see if there's anything wrong with it and advise you accordingly.
