Hi all, had a post about this some years ago. FNB app payment apporval is non-existent. Twice in the last 2 days I've done payments that asked for approval - 1 I denied (wife using card and didnt tell me) and the other I left it too long to approve and it cancelled. Both times I retried the payments and no approval was asked for, payment went thru immediately. Be safe out there

Maybe journos can run some tests and put pressure on FNB to answer.
@Jan
@Hanno Labuschagne

I did search for previous FNB posts, perhaps wrong search terms, but nothing that looked relevant to my problem came up.
This is a physical card I'm talking about here. It has not been hacked or used without permission, but if it is compromised there is clearly nothing stopping the crims from maxxing my card, they only have to try twice for each transaction. Unless FNB has some advanced geo tracking, or algorithmic pattern detection **** going on to see if it was actually me using my card, I don't see why they simply approved the payments the 2nd time I tried them.

Whats with all these anti-FNB posts lately. If your wife is stealing your credit cards and using them how does that make it FNBs problem? Maybe trade in the wife for a more loyal one?
AfriBank users are out in full force.

I am seriously starting to think that its not FNB with a problem but just people who are clueless who have discovered that they can rant on Mybb for their short comings. Not even Capitec users complain this much with their queues.

Nope, All these complaints are user-error, I am still yet to see a complaint where FNB is actually at fault.

You need to stop it with this line of sensible reasoning. People might start agreeing with you, and then where would the forum be without the usual chaos and disagreements??

I dont mind the chaos and disagreements, But just dont drag FNB through the mud, that is where i draw the line.

Ok FNB shill we've heard enough from you. learn to read, then learn to comprehend. ps send me your physical card details if you trust the fnb protections so much

Did a test on a domains.co.za invoice that needed to be paid.

1. Entered card details and left the authorisation window for 5 minutes, had to eventually decline so the claim that a payment cancells if not approved is not entirely true.

2. Strangely enough, went through the payment again using same card but this time the payment went through without authorisation.

That said, one should understand that verification is not done by the bank but by the card issuer which is VISA. Verified by VISA (the authorisation mechanism) is a service given by FNB but not provided by FNB.

It is something FNB should look into.

Pretty much my experience too. The 2nd payment I referred to was thru Zapper, I guess it was technically Zapper that timed out because I never approved payment on my app. Nevertheless, 2nd time I did pmt thru zapper no approval was necessary and pmt went thru immediately.

Since when you do you approve payments made with your physical card?
