FNB eBucks problems - Check your petrol spend for issues

FNB customers have reported problems with their fuel spend transactions on FNB's eBucks platform, which has caused them to miss out on additional points.

The problem is due to the incorrect reflection of in-store payments as fuel transactions, which can disqualify eBucks customers from for the platform's Double-Up programme.

As someone posted in the ebucks thread, it only became a "problem" now, this has occured before and was counted as fuel spend and received extra ebucks.

Wow, that 100% Engen requirement can almost make Discovery look good in the Nanny Corp stakes.

So you have to keep a credit card with another bank around if you want to fill-up elsewhere and not incur their wrath?

Stop being dramatic; there is no wrath. There's R8 back for every litre of fuel; that has to come from somewhere.

So if you want free money, play along. If not; don’t. But try not whine about it.

Why do you feel the need to whine back? These reward systems that create more and more complicated games for customers to play (and then don't work properly as the article showed) don't need your defense.

He said that customers who suspect they were disqualified for the same reason are encouraged to contact eBucks.

“eBucks will evaluate each case on its merits,” Moolman said.

Piss poor - it's not the client's responsibility to do your job Mr Moolman.

Customers should maybe shop around and get cheaper bank account, cheaper car loan (and of diesel) cheaper fuel.

They'll change the rules just as you're getting to the next 'level' too :)

You are not entitled to rewards. If you don't like the game, don't play. It's a free market.

I used to worry about where to refeul and which card to swipe with for points, then I switched to capitec bank for R5 pm banking fees. Most months my interest I make is more than my banking fees. Point systems are pointless to me, do this to get that... its a marketing strategy, the house never loses. Albeit it can work for you if you travel 5000km per month to work and back, but I don't so I'm happy with the money-in-money-out concept, i dont need free smoothies from discovery or this and that. Everyone to its own i guess.

Hush now, you're showing your ignorance on this subject.

its like any points, do you spend that kind of cash every month?
then yes its worth taking out and following the rules.

just like going to a casino and taking out a membership card,
if your a frequent gambler, you'll see the rewards, because your anyway there.
(in America its called Comps, I believe)

same think with SAA Voyager points, or Discovery.
or PNP smart shopper or Spur rewards or anything really.

do you make it worth their while? then yes, you'll make something (minimal) back.
but can you retire on it? no, not a chance.

myself? understand what these rewards are, and when its in your way already,
then you make the reward back, and enjoy it while you can.

not go nuts, and try to game the system and hope to gain something from nothing.
thats not how these things work.

so No , I wont take an additional account,
and NO I wont take extra Loans,
and Hell No I wont take on MORE debt just to move up a tier from level 3.

but if I happen to be near an Engen, yes, I will fill up my car there,
and If I happen to make a purchase from Takealot, I will enter my ID number for the points.
and yes, if I am near a Checkers, then yes, I will shop there to earn some (minimal) ebucks back.

no FREE lunch , does not exist...

i love how when ever there is a problem they say it affects "a small portion of customers", i mean come on now, how does a computer discriminate?
I believe it's when a customer goes to a service station with a misconfigured POS device, so it'd only affect those customers. This should not be a very common scenario

Paid off my car last year so not benefiting from double-up. It's nice to have the freedom to pick up midnight salami sticks and oreo sandwiches with impunity.
