FNB Pay2Cell launched

Damn FNB! You keep on impressing me. I'm so glad I left ripoff ABSA

With it's Android app for cellphone banking and now this, FNB is way ahead of the rest. Maybe I should move all me accounts to FNB....

Already did... R95 / month FLAT service fee... Any login or activity on my account, i get SMS and Email at no extra charge.

I have never been with such a forward thinking bank... my previous bank (starts with an N) deducted service fee's from my account sporadically, and the best is... the day i phoned to find out what for... they couldn't tell me... right there and then i switched to FNB... had my account open and cards within 24 hours after application.

I was impressed with my home loan application through FNB. They responded and gave me a better rate, faster than my own bank did. I am also sure that their radio ads make other banks feel pretty lame at the moment.

Meh. I used to be with FNB (I suppose I technically still am, since I haven't closed my account). But cheap they are not. The monthly fee might only be R110, but there is a R30 fee everytime you use another banks ATM. So this equated to bank charges of roughly R500 every month.
Not that Nedbank is much better...

Joining FNB was the best move I made, excellent customer service loads of innovative NEW ideas... etc. Its no mystery why the other banks are having a hard time making ends meet...

Well that is hardly the bank's fault, but your own. The answer is simple, don't use another bank's ATM.

Very clever from FNB!

Your cellphone is literally the key to you account - all your OTP's etc go their, so taking it to the next level like this is smart.

It makes life easy in terms of making payments and its going to make people with FNB accounts try convince their friends to move over too. The product will kind of get FNB customer to market it for them.

Transactional costs are limited to R1 500 per day, and are linked to the type of FNB account that the sender has.

Surely thats a misprint... I hope I don't rack up R1 500 transaction costs in one day.

So I should modify my behaviour and inconvenience myself because the bank says so? That's just stupid.
I'd rather just pay the fees. Or possibly move to Capitec sometime. They only charge R7

To be fair, R30 per withdrawal is a lot. Not having acces to FNB atm's - thats something FNB can sort out.

But if you saying your bank charges would go up to R500 a month, that would mean you withdrawing easily more then 10 times a month - that does not make sense and is your own fault.

It doesn't matter who you bank with, if you use an ATM from a bank other than where your account is you'll get charged. This rate is the same across all banks so if that was the reason why you switched then you haven't saved a cent.

I'm quite surprised that nobody knows about this. The fee charged used to be R50 a couple of years ago, the banks were then forced to lower it. All the banks charge the same amount so it doesn't matter which bank you're with. If you use an ATM from another, you will be charged.

Its not the same across banks.

Not true.

- Standard bank charges you to withdraw from their own ATMs, and they don't even mention the fee from another bank's ATM.
- Absa charges "R3,75 + R1,05/R100" to withdraw from their own ATM, and their fee from another bank's ATM is "R9,75 + R1,05/R100"
- Nedbank's pricing schemes are so convoluted and different from option to option, that I don't have the patience to go through all of them. But it's basically the same story - you pay even if you withdraw from their own ATM and you pay more when withdrawing from another's.

So yeah move to Capitec if you want, but moaning about spending R500 on withdrawals because you can't manage your cash/money properly is entirely your fault. The Saswitch fee of R30 is the only thing you could bring up against FNB - but there's no denying that they're leading ITO everything else. You didn't expect everything to be 100% perfect did you?

Capitec is only R7
