Ah, drinking milk feeds the brain. Finally someone who understands the 150 year old adage, " no such thing as a free lunch"!!
I'm going to explain this slowly, with another example.
In the city where I live, there is an account card called Sambahttp://www.sambakoop.com, which most shops support. You pay R180 once off to register for a card. (well, actually its paid by the rewards). There after, all the transactions you do at most of the stores, you get a discount of between 2% and 9%. Even at Pick n Pay. Now you see, for the 4 years prior to me getting a card, I bought at the PnP and I actually paid too much. I lost out on a deal other people were getting for free. You see,the discount was always there for any one with a qualifying card. I just never got one.
Now you'll tell me that it's not free, I paid R100 for the card. Okay, if the average discount each time I swipe the card is 3%, that would mean that I pay the card's cost with the first R6k with of purchases I make. That's the first 2-3 months of our spending. There after, all my discounts are free.
So yes, nothing in life is free. Everyone is paying for these sort of deals, but if you don't take advantage of it, you're losing out
