I think the cheaper (example: < R400k cars are kept in bulk) Unless you're buying a German car like a BMW, Merc or Audi. They have way too many optional extras that are assembled first before you take delivery. I'm sure general vehicles like the Toyotas, VW's and so on should be ready to collect in a day or 2.

There are still PDI's and licensing and all sorts to handle prior to delivery...

I'm sure Uncle Fazda could give us more detail.

Wait, wait, wait...

I am a cash buyer. I do cash on everything I buy.

I bought the Etios Cross cash, got it the same day. They had in stock and I took no extras. For the Ford I waited a day as they needed to add smash and grab.

I took both cars on temporary plates, the Cross took 4 days to do the registration and the Ford is still not done.

And, yes, I did take a knock on the trade in, but it was worth it. What is a couple of tens of thousands of Rands when you look at the difference between the cars?

The Eco Sport is awesome.

Honestly, in my personal opinion you're just being anal.

I would prefer it being software related and doesn't need intrusion like removing the tank or sensor to fix it. Software fix is plugged into the ECU and bam it's fixed. No fiddling, messing about or nothing.

Your money your choice what you want to do. I'm just 100% sure you're making a mistake giving up on the Eco Sport because of a fuel sensor reading issue

I am not giving up on the vehicle.

I just need a new working model with no issues.

That is that. If the dealership has issues, then I want a refund.

Buying cash is irrelevant.

Talking about availability of the cars and delivery. Even if you buy through HP, it can be approved the same day and you can leave with the vehicle...

People who just shrug off 'a couple of tens of thousands of Rands' don't buy crappy cars built in India. Twice. In the space of two weeks. Boredom must be a terrible burden to carry.

Yes, you are right.

I know of people / companies who has agreements with banks and are free to take delivery of vehicles before papers have been completed.

True.

The point is not that the ecosport is a much better car, the point is that you bought a car which you decided wasn't good enough, and lost tens of thousands getting rid of it when a proper test drive would have told you that. If any of this is true.

Okay, so just now received a call from the Dealer Principal.

Informed me that they had a look at the vehicle and could not find what was causing the problem. Software updates did not resolve the issue. He told me straight that they will now replace the petrol tank and see what will happen.

In the same sentence told me that if the tank is replaced and the problem still occurs, he would rather cancel the deal and refund me the money.

I told him that I did not want any repairs to be done. I told him that, according to the CPA, my first instruction was the replacement of the vehicle, and if that is not possible then a refund. I made it very clear that I would prefer to get a replacement rather than a refund.

He just steamrolled ahead that they will replace the tank.

So, in accordance with the CPA and now a mechanical error, I will wait for them to come back and demand the refund, whether the car is fixed or not.

It is clear that they do not want to replace the vehicle. They confirmed they do have stock available. They rather want to give a refund. This gives me a bad idea that they do not trust their own brand. In this case, I cannot trust it either.

Lessons learnt.

Well that explains everything.

Lets do the maths here just btw...

He got the Etios 11 days ago (according to him).. based on a post from 12 days ago, so effectively he managed to get a "new" car in the space of a day, which I doubt.

Then he has traded the Etios in on the Ecosport, in what must be at most 7 days from date of "taking" ownership, since he has had time to bitch about the car and fill it up twice now.

Sorry, but as of now I'm calling BS. Nobody gets a "new" car that quickly, twice, and takes the kind of financial bath he has willingly, and seems to be prepared to do again.

Thanks for confirming its the same poster, I also call BS on the story especially after how he went on about how the Etios is a good car :D

Well, the Cross was not a bad vehicle and I will stick to my guns on that one. Had no issues with it at all. I have to mention that you cannot compare the Cross to the normal Etios, like many do. For any young guy or girl who can buy in that price range, it is an okay vehicle.

So what made you throw tens of thousands away by getting rid of it a week after you bought it?
