Ford Ecosport feedback please

I take it she doesnt have to sit in the Gonubie traffic then!
The mileage and wear and tear on your car from that is crazy.
I waited until I moved out of Gonubie before replacing my car because of it.

Thankfully she works until lunch so no Gonubie traffic for her. My T6 Ranger on the other hand takes a beating every 4:30pm :-)

Yet so many ppl say the EcoSport is the better buy over the B-Max compact MPV...I disagree.

I think the B-Max is smart with its pillar-less design & sliding doors...

One is made in India & one made somewhere in Europe. (you guys can Google exactly where)

20cm ground clearance on BMax?

The Ambiente we own only lacks bluetooth and steering wheel controls. 6 airbags is 4 more than a Fiesta.

For two hundred and twenty thousand? No thank you. especially for that non existent boot.

But I'm also in the minority, I'll never buy new again.

I had the same problem with the car. But I then realised the boot is deep. You can fit a new washing machine into it if the seats are folded down. And yes, I did test it.

I'm with you. Hence it only became financially viable as a second car for us when it was R189k so we flogged the Pug 208 and grabbed one. At that price, it was a bargain compared to hatchback money.

Boot is bigger than other hatches PLUS the hatch is concave on the inside so you can still close the boot with stuff overflowing.

Can't say I miss the Gonubie traffic. The last 6 months there I changed to an Auto, made a huge difference in stress :)

Are they still busy with that road?

Dude, don't even go there! We have 2 good, completed lanes in and out but Basil (fo$$en) Read refuse to open the second incoming lane and we only have 2 lanes out between 6-8am in the mornings. I have never seen such slow progress - took them 6 weeks to contruct a flippen traffic circle!

It has been 2yrs of severe pain and suffering and the end will now only be Easter next year... hopefully!

It is Slummies after all. Where things run at 1/4 speed. :D (And yes, I grew up there, so I am allowed to call it Slummies ;) )

My mother bought the automatic Ecosport in September. I like it.

Will look at getting myself the Ambiente in a year or 2.

They on special for R199k this month - Rand Dollar is not your friend - buy now!

EDIT: Changed RRP to correct figure

If you keep the Pug for 12 year or so the depreciation will be almost negligible compared to other cars.

When I sold the Pug back to the dealer I had the cash to settle the outstanding finance amount so the thought did cross my mind, but:

*Colour was that pinky Rose Quartz which was a bodyworks nightmare and we had grown tired of it (white for life now)
*As per my OP, my contact had resigned and the local workshop is terrible. Without my contact, getting decent service would be a mission
*The Ecosport R190k deal was too good to turn down. Parts are very cheap and the thing can survive in India so it will handle EL potholes easily. Bought white and got rid of the aforementioned colour problem.

I promised myself to settle the Ecosport in 2016 and I am on track to do just that with some tight living. Tired of a monthly car repayment and once the Ecosport is settled, it will give my wife years of peace of mind and my wallet much as well!

Recall booking done. Full day job. Night persuade them to let me use an Everest. :)

Info on the recall

Ford has announced a recall of its compact EcoSport SUV over concerns that the rear suspension setup could fail during driving.

The recall centres on the pivot bolts of the torsion beam in the EcoSport’s rear suspension, which Ford says may not have been tightened correctly in some models.

The bolts in affected vehicles could therefore break, compromising handling and potentially creating a hazard for the driver and other road users.

Affected vehicles were built between November 29, 2013 and April 11, 2014. Ford says that 1201 vehicles are listed in the recall.

Purchased mine in January this year so not affected..
